Federal staffers hold meetings with DOGE reps to reduce government waste, according to a report.
Staffers from over a dozen federal agencies are reportedly meeting with aides for Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
According to a new report, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, aides for Tesla and Space X CEO, are interviewing staffers with the federal government for the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
More than a dozen federal agencies, including the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service, as well as the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services, have had conversations with representatives for DOGE, according to a report by The Washington Post on Friday.
Musk and Ramaswamy are heading a blue-ribbon committee, separate from the federal government, that aims to tackle problems related to government spending, waste, efficiency, and operations. They are anticipated to propose executive actions for the Trump administration and collaborate with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to implement reforms.
The committee aims to reduce the federal government budget by $2 trillion through cost-cutting measures, including reducing government programs and the federal workforce.
Musk recently expressed uncertainty about the possibility of reducing the federal budget by $2 trillion and suggested a more realistic goal of cutting $1 trillion.
"During CES in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Musk stated that he believes the best-case outcome is to aim for $2 trillion. However, he also mentioned that there should be some overage, and if they strive for $2 trillion, they have a good chance of achieving $1 trillion."
The DOGE Caucus, established by Reps. Aaron Bean and Pete Sessions, has received support from lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
"The national debt has exceeded $36 trillion, which should serve as a warning to all Americans, according to House DOGE Caucus Co-Chair Bean. To prevent a financial disaster, action must be taken. Bean is pleased with President-elect Trump's appointment of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE, but they will need support to tackle the challenges ahead."
The Senate DOGE Caucus will be led by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa.
In a November statement, Ernst declared that the tables have finally turned, the knives are out, and waste is on the chopping block.
According to the Post, DOGE currently has a staff of around 50 people working from SpaceX's offices in Washington, D.C. and aims to double that number when President-elect Trump is inaugurated on January 20.
A representative for Ramaswamy declined to provide comment to Planet Chronicle Digital.
The creation of the Commission on Government Efficiency, known as COGE, in New Hampshire by Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte appears to have been inspired by DOGE.
In her inaugural address, Ayotte stated that COGE would enable us to save taxpayer dollars and improve our service to the state's people more effectively than ever before.
