Elon Musk and Ravi Ramaswamy meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss Trump's plan for reducing government waste using DOGE.
Elon Musk and Ravi Ramaswamy will confer with members of the House and Senate to outline their proposals for the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will meet with Republican lawmakers in both chambers of Congress on Thursday morning to discuss ways to reduce waste in the federal government, just weeks after the creation of the Trump-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The new agency created by President-elect Trump to eliminate government waste is led by Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate and biotech entrepreneur.
They will visit Washington, D.C., to meet with top lawmakers in the House of Representatives and the Senate, indicating their intention to collaborate with Congress to reduce wasteful spending.
The first Senate DOGE Caucus meeting on Thursday morning will be attended by Musk and Ramswamy, who are chaired by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa.
The bicameral event hosted by House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., will take place on the other side of the Capitol, with legislators from both the House and Senate attending.
Johnson announced in his save-the-date statement that he intends to discuss "major reform ideas" with Musk and Ramaswamy to "achieve regulatory rescissions, administrative reductions, and cost savings," while also reviving "the principle of limited government."
Johnson declared that Trump "has made this possible."
Musk and Ramaswamy are not wasting any time laying out their vision for slashing government bloat through DOGE. The pair wrote an op-ed published in The Wall Street Journal last month, detailing how the outside-government agency will operate to determine suggestions for cuts.
By July 4, 2026, the entrepreneurs have pledged to eliminate entire government agencies through the DOGE initiative.
In their op-ed, Musk and Ramaswamy primarily discussed how DOGE could aid in identifying unnecessary waste and regulations that could be eliminated through the executive branch.
When Trump returns to office in January, Republicans will control the White House and both chambers of the legislature, and many GOP lawmakers have already expressed interest in aiding the agency.
The Delivering on Government Efficiency Subcommittee will be established by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and will be chaired by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., to work with DOGE.
The subcommittee is tasked with probing wasteful expenditures, exploring methods to streamline federal departments for enhanced productivity, and devising strategies to eradicate bureaucratic obstacles.
Sources informed Planet Chronicle Digital that Comer and Ramaswamy have already met to discuss collaboration.
Last month, Trump expressed his hope that DOGE would become the "Manhattan Project of our time," referring to J. Robert Oppenheimer's secretive atomic bomb project during World War II.
Trump stated that Republican politicians have long harbored aspirations for DOGE's goals.
