Elon Musk acknowledges using a weight loss drug that RFK Jr. had previously criticized.
Kennedy stated that Ozempic and other drugs will not contribute to the goal of 'Making America Healthy Again'.
Elon Musk, a billionaire entrepreneur and advisor to President-elect Donald Trump, has claimed that he has profited from a controversial type of weight-loss medication, after Robert F. Kennedy Jr., another top Trump advisor, stated that this new class of drugs is harmful to the health of Americans.
"On Christmas Day, Musk posted a photo of himself dressed as Santa Claus on X, formerly Twitter, with a caption that read "Like Cocaine Bear, but Santa and Ozempic!""
In a follow-up post, Musk stated that he is taking the brand-name version of Mounjaro, but said the name lacked the same appeal.
Trump has appointed Musk and Ramaswamy to lead the DOGE department, which aims to reduce government waste and streamline red tape. Meanwhile, Kennedy has been chosen to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and has been given permission to prioritize health initiatives, as long as they do not conflict with Trump's energy goals.
Kennedy has expressed opposition to semaglutide, which was originally developed as a diabetes medication but has been used more widely for its appetite-suppressing effects.
"Kennedy stated that there is a significant effort to market Ozempic, a semaglutide medication, to the American public, according to Planet Chronicle' Greg Gutfeld in October. He explained that the drug is manufactured in Denmark and is not recommended for diabetes or obesity in that country, where dietary and behavioral changes are advised instead."
Kennedy stated that Americans are so stupid and addicted to drugs that they are counting on selling the product to them. Additionally, he believed that the U.S. could solve the obesity crisis "overnight" if they had access to and consumed better quality food.
Kennedy's campaign platform aims to "Make America Healthy Again," but he believes Ozempic won't contribute to those efforts. In contrast, Musk believes that increasing the availability of Ozempic would greatly improve public health.
In his final days in office, President Biden's administration proposed broadening Medicare and Medicaid coverage for semaglutides to increase access to the drug's weight-loss benefits.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has expressed support for drugs like Ozempic, could also potentially clash with both Musk and Kennedy in leading the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Oz stated in a video on his Instagram account last year that the positive effects of these medications on weight loss and cardiovascular health, which may also have long-term benefits in other areas where obesity causes inflammation, are immense.
Kennedy, who may become Oz's boss if approved by the Senate, toned down his criticism of the new weight-loss drug while seeking support from Congress for his nomination.
According to Kennedy, the initial response should be about lifestyle, specifically eating well to avoid obesity. He also mentioned that anti-obesity drugs like Ozempic have a role in the American medical community.
No representatives from Musk, Kennedy, or the Trump transition team responded to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment on this story.
