Elizabeth Warren expresses skepticism after Trump appoints Musk and Ramaswamy to DOGE: "Yeah, this seems VERY efficient."
Pete Hegseth, Trump's Defense Secretary nominee, has been deemed unqualified by Warren.
Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., criticized President-elect Donald Trump's decision to appoint Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, arguing that he had appointed two people to do the job of one.
"The Office of Government Efficiency is off to a great start with split leadership: two people to do the work of one person," Warren sarcastically remarked in a post on X, adding, "Yeah, this seems REALLY efficient."
Trump stated that Musk and Ramaswamy would help him dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce regulations, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies.
The DOGE department, also known as "DOGE," will offer advice and support from outside the government and collaborate with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to implement significant structural reforms and adopt an entrepreneurial approach to government operations.
Musk has invited the public to share their opinions on what should and should not be cut.
The Department of Government Efficiency will make all its actions public online for maximum transparency. If the public suspects that we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, they can let us know. We will also have a leaderboard for the most insanely dumb spending of taxpayer money. This will be both tragic and entertaining.
In January, Ramaswamy abandoned his pursuit of the GOP presidential nomination and subsequently endorsed Trump.
"DOGE will soon launch a crowdsourcing campaign to gather examples of government waste, fraud, and abuse. Americans voted for significant government reform, and they deserve to be involved in resolving the issue," he stated.
Trump's choice of Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary was criticized by Warren, who argued that he lacks the necessary qualifications for the position.
The co-host of Fox & Friends is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense. I lead the Senate military personnel panel. All three of my brothers served in uniform. I respect every one of our servicemembers. Donald Trump's pick will make us less safe and must be rejected, she declared in a post on X.
According to his website, Hegseth is an author and Army veteran who earned two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman's Badge.
His last day with Fox was Tuesday.
Hegseth will be a courageous and patriotic champion of our "Peace through Strength" policy, as stated by Trump.
