During the AFPI Gala, Sylvester Stallone referred to President-elect Trump as the "second George Washington."
Stallone compared Trump to his 'Rocky' character, stating that he would undergo a transformation and impact people's lives.
At the AFPI Gala on Thursday, Sylvester Stallone, an actor and filmmaker, praised President-elect Donald Trump as the "second George Washington" in a brief and heartfelt speech.
The president-elect took the stage at Mar-a-Lago after the "Rocky" actor spoke for about two minutes as the final speaker of the night.
Stallone started his speech by discussing his "Rocky" character and how he aimed to undergo a transformation and positively impact people's lives, similarly to President Trump.
In the presence of a truly legendary figure, he expressed his awe, stating that no one in the world could have achieved what he accomplished.
He went on to compare Trump to George Washington and how his commitment to America transformed the world.
Stallone declared, "When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he would change the world. We now have the second George Washington, and congratulations!" Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." began playing after Stallone's statement.
Stallone introduced Trump onto the stage, and they shook hands before Trump spoke a few words.
In 2016, Stallone admitted to not voting in the 2016 and 2020 elections, but he also told Variety magazine that he liked Trump.
"I love Donald Trump," he said at the time. "There are certain people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don't know how that translates to running the world."
Stallone did not publicly support Trump during the 2024 election cycle, but he took a FaceTime call from Planet Chronicle' Brett Baier in October and urged Pennsylvania voters to "keep punching."
On Thursday, he publicly shared his thoughts about a Trump presidency for the first time during his speech at Mar-a-Lago.
