DNC chair responds to Bernie Sanders' claim about working class loss in election: 'absolute nonsense'
DNC Chair Harrison labeled Senator Sanders' comments as "complete nonsense."
In response to Bernie Sanders' claim that Democrats have lost the working class, DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison countered on X.
Sanders criticized the Democratic Party for abandoning working-class people in a Nov. 6 post, stating that the working class had also abandoned the party. Harrison, in a post earlier on Thursday, slammed Sanders' recent re-election and called his claims "straight up BS." Harrison also praised Biden as the most pro-worker President of his lifetime and criticized Sanders' post-election take as not being a good one. Harrison's post has received over 18,000 likes.
Many fingers are being pointed within Democratic circles to attribute Vice President Harris' definitive loss to any possible guilty party. Sanders referred to the Harris campaign as "disastrous" in his X post, asking "Will the big money interests and well-paid consultants who control the Democratic Party learn any real lessons from this disastrous campaign?"
Sanders questioned whether the party understands the pain and political alienation that millions of Americans are experiencing. He added that they probably do not have any ideas on how to tackle the powerful oligarchy that holds significant economic and political power. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris has only gained 226 Electoral College votes, according to the Planet Chronicle Decision Desk, and is projected to lose critical swing states such as Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
Democrats suffered defeat across the board, with projections indicating that Republicans will take the majority of both the House and Senate. According to Reuters, Harrison will not seek re-election as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee after being appointed in 2021. Sanders, 83, won another six-year term in the Senate despite many seats flipping red.
