Despite the conclusion of the election season, political betting markets remain active.

The conclusion of the election season does not signal the termination of political gambling, as numerous websites offer users the chance to bet on events such as the 2028 election and the confirmation of President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet members.

"According to Maxim Lott, founder of ElectionBettingOdds.com, some individuals may be astonished by this, but people are already placing bets on the 2026 and 2028 elections, with approximately $250,000 already wagered."

The 2024 election generated a significant amount of betting activity, with millions of users placing wagers worth over $2 billion on the outcome.

Gamblers can still find plenty of political betting options after the election, even though mega sporting events like the Super Bowl and the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight provide a lot of opportunities to wager on.

The most frequently discussed topic is the potential nominees for both major parties in 2028, with ElectionBettingOdds.com currently predicting California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Vice President-elect JD Vance as the top contenders for Democrats and Republicans, respectively.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are among the significant names being considered for the Democratic nomination, while Vance is being trailed by entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Donald Trump Jr. on the Republican side.

Lott stated that big Democratic governors are predicted to be the next nominee, with Vance currently leading other GOP contenders.

According to ElectionBettingOdds.com, Vance is currently leading the betting odds for the 2028 presidential election, with Newson and Shapiro being the next two most likely candidates.

Lott cautioned that it is too early to predict the future, but the markets will provide more clarity as more information becomes available in the coming years.

"As the future becomes clearer, the odds of Vance will change based on the performance of the Trump administration, the state of the economy, inflation control, and the ending of wars."

Polymarket allows users to wager on Trump's Cabinet picks and their confirmation, as well as on questions such as the end of the war in Ukraine and cease-fire in Gaza.

Looking at current betting odds for various scenarios can provide insight into world events, regardless of whether or not you place bets.

"Lott stated that people often believe that prediction markets are just a form of gambling, but he argued that they are actually very useful. He explained that if someone wants to know what will happen in 2028 or the success of the Trump administration, they can read 100 news articles, which may misinform them. Alternatively, they can go to prediction markets and see the chances of Vance becoming the next Republican nominee, which provides valuable information."
