Conservatives unite behind Hegseth following 'devastating' scorching confirmation hearing.
On Tuesday, Pete Hegseth's hearing continued for more than four hours.
The confirmation hearing for Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth was tense and often personal, prompting reactions on social media and elsewhere.
"Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer praised Pete Hegseth's focus on warriors and lethality in a recent post on X, stating that it is refreshing to hear someone avoid the Washington word-salad game of making nominees talk like social workers running government agencies."
According to Bradley Devlin, The Daily Signal politics editor, the Senate's claim that hearings are serious, deliberative acts of policy making and statesmanship is not entirely accurate, as the behavior of Senate Armed Service Committee Democrats during Pete Hegseth's confirmation hearing on Tuesday revealed that most Senate hearings, whether confirmation or not, are merely a form of kabuki theater.
According to Planet Chronicle Digital, 'American Majority' President Ned Ryun praised Hegseth's performance, stating that he handled himself "magnificently."
"Ryun stated that he envisions a new era at the Pentagon where the Department of Defense prioritizes deterrence through strength, leaving behind the weakness of woke ideology. When Democrats attempted to discredit Pete through anonymous attacks, he responded with grace. The hearing was impressive, and it is clear that he will be confirmed with ease."
"Scott Jennings of CNN posted on X: "Why do Dems send their least intelligent members to this crucial committee?"
"The former HUD Secretary Ben Carson and his wife Candy's account on X has made it clear that the left remains fully committed to the failed and weak policies that were rejected in November. Additionally, the post stated that Pete Hegseth will be an excellent Secretary of Defense."
According to Caroline Downey, a National Review Staff Writer and visiting fellow with Independent Women’s Forum, while Democratic senators were preoccupied with hearsay allegations and character attacks, Pete Hegseth remained focused on the military's primary mission: lethality.
"As the daughter of a West Point graduate and Army Captain who served in Vietnam, I can attest that the primary objectives of the military academies have been subsumed by progressive political goals. The academies have succumbed to woke ideology, putting at risk their mission to produce leaders of intellectual, mental, and physical strength who can safeguard and defend the United States. Despite accusations from Democratic lawmakers that he has abandoned veterans, Hegseth demonstrated his unwavering commitment to their well-being through both words and actions."
Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., emphasized the urgency of confirming Hegseth "immediately" so that he can begin his role as soon as possible.
Banks emphasized the importance of immediate action for the job, stating this to reporters.
The committee will meet on January 20th to confirm him out of the committee, and we hope he goes to a vote on the floor as soon as possible since we can't wait.
After the hearing, several Senate Democrats maintained their refusal to back Hegseth, asserting that he lacked the necessary qualifications.
