Conservative activist urges Democrats to adhere to SCOTUS ethics rules.
Leonard Leo states that the campaign against a court is actually an attempt to destroy it.
A notable conservative advocate and benefactor is challenging President Biden's recently announced plan to drastically alter the Supreme Court and enforce ethical standards, asserting that if the president were genuinely committed to such changes, he would first target Congress, where the true corruption lies.
On Monday, Biden and Vice President Harris advocated for changes to the high court, including term limits, a constitutional amendment limiting presidential immunity, and new ethics rules, which some legal experts argue would be unconstitutional.
In a Sunday op-ed in The Washington Post, Biden expressed his respect for institutions and separation of powers but stated that the current situation is not normal and is damaging public trust in the court's decisions, particularly those affecting personal freedoms. He emphasized that the country is now in a "breach."
The Federalist Society co-chairman, Leonard Leo, is challenging Biden's Supreme Court nominee selection process.
"No conservative justice has made any decision in any big case that surprised anyone, so let's stop pretending this is about undue influence," Leo stated.
Democrats are destroying a court they disagree with. If President Biden and Democrats were serious about ethics reform, they would ban all gifts and hospitality to any public official in any branch of government, starting with Congress, where the real corruption lies.
The government plans to close all loopholes that allow Members to travel on private jets to luxurious hotels and restaurants. In terms of judges, they will focus on areas where influence peddling is most prevalent and dangerous, such as when liberal Justices mingle with influencers at events like law schools, bar associations, progressive think tanks, and other groups and events funded by Left-wing billionaires, where they support the interests of powerful individuals.
Biden proposed that the Supreme Court's code of conduct should mandate justices to reveal gifts, abstain from public political activities, and recuse themselves from cases where they or their spouses have financial or other conflicts of interest.
"Leo stated, "I support an all-encompassing ethics ban for all branches of government. This includes no jets, meals, speaking honorariums, or gifts for anyone from anyone for any reason, starting with Congress.""
"Let's all be honest about this: it's a campaign to destroy a court they disagree with until they support it," he concluded.
Biden will address his proposed high court modifications on Monday afternoon.
