Congress and the Trump administration should promptly commence the process of fulfilling their promise to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, according to immigration advocates.
Groups who helped pass the GOP border bill through Congress signed the letter.
A group of hawkish immigration advocates are urging Congress and the Trump administration to fulfill their promises to launch a mass deportation operation, and not compromise on key issues during the upcoming reconciliation process.
The coalition states that the undersigned organizations and individuals are expressing and pledging their support to fulfill the promises made to the American people.
The Trump administration is planning to begin arresting illegal immigrants throughout the US on "Day One."
"Immediate, earnest work must begin due to Congressional calendar limitations, litigation threats from open-borders zealots, slow regulatory action, and complex law enforcement operations promised," they assert.
"Secure borders and mass deportations are essential for public safety, national security, protecting American workers, and preventing unethical employer practices. These measures should not be used as bargaining chips for other policies or political priorities."
Trump has pledged to execute a "historic" deportation operation and enhance border security. Numerous Congressional Republicans campaigned on these issues, and surveys indicated that many Americans viewed illegal immigration as a pressing concern.
The groups emphasize that the 2023 House-passed GOP border bill, which they had repeatedly urged lawmakers to pass, contained several comprehensive measures to secure the border and restrict the ability of migrants to claim asylum. However, they now assert that the bill serves as a "floor, not a ceiling," and urge the incoming administration and Congress to take additional steps, starting with a funding package through the budget reconciliation process.
They are prepared to assist in creating a comprehensive reconciliation package that aligns with President Trump's dedication to the American people and the fundamental laws that safeguard our country, given the current government's unified control and an opportune moment.
The reconciliation package recommendations of theirs involve allocating more resources to facilitate "millions of deportations," tightening immigration laws, reducing funding to nonprofits, and prioritizing American workers over foreign labor.
Lawmakers are also warned against granting any kind of amnesty.
The American people are calling for an immigration system that upholds the rule of law and brings order. It is time to act.
The Immigration and Accountability Project's police director, Rosemary Jenks, stated that Congress must act promptly to provide the necessary resources, such as ICE ERO officers and detention beds, for President Trump to implement the mass deportations required to undo the harm caused by the Biden Administration.
On Friday, it was reported by Fox that the new administration intends to begin mass immigration arrests on day one.
"According to border czar Tom Homan, ICE will enforce immigration law without apology, starting with the worst public safety threats first. However, no one is exempt, and if someone is in the country illegally, they have a problem. This was stated on "Jesse Watters Tonight.""
