California DA Pamela Price criticized progressive leftist crime policies.
The recall effort backed by Save Alameda for Everyone (SAFE) was successful with 64.8% of the vote.
Early Wednesday, District Attorney Pamela Price of Alameda County, California, was recalled, just under two years after being elected, due to criticism of her perceived lenient stance on crime.
The recall committee Save Alameda for Everyone (SAFE) backed the effort, which passed with 64.8% of the vote, according to polling results from Alameda County. The committee comprises former Alameda County prosecutors, county residents, community activists, and crime victims and their families, as stated on the committee's website.
"Brenda Grisham, principal officer for SAFE, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that it has been 18 months of struggle and they are hoping for a turnaround for the victims. She emphasized that they are not only referring to existing laws but also to the new laws implemented by the official, which were not safe or suitable for the citizens of Alameda County."
Grisham expressed his excitement yesterday after they shared their thoughts.
"Oakland Police Officers Association President Huy Nguyen thanked voters for recalling Sheng Thao and Pamela Price, stating that their progressive leftist policies directly harmed and impacted residents, neighborhoods, working and middle class families, and small businesses."
Nearly 75,000 validated signatures had been acquired by May of this year for the recall effort, which filed the necessary paperwork to begin fundraising in July 2023, according to the New York Post.
In May, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors established a recall election date of Nov. 5.
After her recall effort received 65% of the vote, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao was removed from office.
Numerous Alameda County families had voiced opposition to Price prior to the recall election.
In 2016, Florance McCrary's 22-year-old son was shot and killed by a stray bullet. After the murder charge against her son's alleged killer was abruptly dropped by Price last year, McCrary became a vocal advocate for Price's removal.
"McCrary was in complete shock when he told Fox and Friends co-host Pete Hegseth that the fight that took over six years to resolve was diminished to nothing. While sitting in court and learning from the judge, McCrary realized that this was the best outcome he could hope for."

In October, California Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell held a press conference and argued that Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia had failed victims of violent crime, supporting the recall vote against her.
"The cops catch, and Price releases," Swalwell said.
This week, Swalwell reportedly filed a defamatory claim against Price, accusing her of making defamatory statements at a news conference a few weeks ago where she claimed that Swalwell wanted to recall her to "shield himself from unethical practices" that occurred while he was serving as a deputy district attorney.
Swalwell stated that he had no choice but to file a claim against Pamela Price for her false and intentional statements.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to Swalwell's office for additional comment.
