Black activists linked to Vice President Harris could undermine the Democratic Party's "unity" message with past rhetoric.
Over 50 visits to the Biden-Harris White House have been made by Cora Masters Barry and Melanie Campbell.
Some "White women for Kamala" supporters may be turned off by the past rhetoric of two Black female activists who have met with Vice President Harris and pledged to help her become the next president.
According to a Planet Chronicle Digital review, Cora Masters Barry and Melanie Campbell, both of whom are appointed by Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and are longtime civil rights activists, have visited the White House more than 50 times combined during the Biden administration, including nearly a dozen visits with Harris or her staff.
In a Zoom call prior to President Biden and Harris's inauguration in 2021, Barry and Campbell made controversial remarks about Trump supporters and criticized White voters, particularly White women, which could lead to internal conflicts among different coalitions working to elect Harris as president.
Last week, approximately 164,000 White women participated in a Zoom call organized by Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts and other female celebrities. The call, titled "White Women: Answer the Call," reportedly raised millions of dollars for Harris' campaign and could be a significant fundraising force in the coming months.
The unearthed comments from two activists could create internal tension for the Harris campaign as they strive to unite different voting blocs.
Harris recently stated that if one claims to uphold unity, it is not enough to merely utilize the term.
"We need to alter our approach. We must acquire our individuals. We must obtain our – they have obtained their people. They have secured all the trailer parks," Barry stated during the Zoom. "All those individuals in West Virginia and the hills are covered. They have transported them all the way to Wall Street."
"Barry said that, and we're discussing the White women. F*** the White women – sorry – let's forget the White women. They'll follow the orders of the White men," Campbell laughed and clapped.
"What they tell themselves," Campbell interjected.
"Barry continued, "They are smiling in their faces, indicating they want to remain in control." Campbell responded positively in the background. "I don't care about them; we must do what we must do.""
Barry emphasized the importance of organizing to elect Kamala Harris as the next president and stated that she does not want a women's parade.
Barry stated that if there is another Women's March, he would go and destroy it.
Barry criticized Trump supporters, comparing them to the Ku Klux Klan, stating that while not everyone who voted for Trump is a member of the KKK, they have a white sheet in their closet that emerges when economic value or power is threatened.
At the time, Barry stated that if Biden won the 2020 election, his group should organize to ensure that the next president of the United States is a Black woman.
"Barry stated that it won't happen if they don't reach all Black people, as they are the ones who will put her in there, and White folks won't do it."
Campbell criticized White women who voted for Trump during the Zoom call, stating that their support was motivated by "race" and "White privilege," and that they couldn't comprehend how they could back someone who disrespected them as women.
"Campbell stated, "I am not surprised, but I am frustrated. I am determined to find a solution despite the obstacles. I am not interested in having fruitless conversations with my White girlfriends about the need for a conversation. Instead, I suggest that they talk to their sisters and cousins.""
Barry stated, "I have no interest in comprehending the motivations behind White people's actions. They act the way they do because they believe it is necessary for them to maintain their power and control. This is their goal. I am not angry with them, but rather with us, the Black community."
At the conclusion of the Zoom call, Barry stated that it is an ideal moment to mobilize Black voters and advance their agenda "since there is a significant amount of White guilt money available."
"I'm going to take it and use it to radicalize my community, so they can come for your job. I'm saying it's time to act," she declared.
In 2022, at a private event honoring her late husband, former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry, Barry praised notorious antisemitite Louis Farrakhan lavishly.
At the private ceremony, Barry praised Farrakhan, who has been promoting antisemitic views for many years, such as calling Jews "wicked" and comparing them to termites. Barry referred to Farrakhan as a "friend" and "family member," and also expressed his love for him in a heartfelt manner.
"We love you more than you love us, Minister Farrakhan, but you may not realize it," she stated.
Barry was praised by Farrakhan as a "real treasure" and a "treasure" of God.
The spokesperson for both Barry and Campbell clarified that the comment about White women was in reference to their reliability as Democrat voters and that the vice president was not involved in the conversation.
Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive any response from Barry, Campbell, or the Harris campaign when requested for comment.
