Biden's gas water heater ban could be overturned by a House GOP resolution.
The Biden administration has unveiled new rules for non-condensing, natural gas-powered water heaters.
A GOP-proposed congressional resolution may hinder President Biden's prohibition on natural gas water heaters, according to Planet Chronicle Digital's exclusive report.
The Biden administration is set to implement a new rule banning non-condensing, natural gas-fired water heaters by 2029 to reduce carbon emissions. However, Republicans in Congress are attempting to intervene.
Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., presented a Congressional Review Act (CRA) on Wednesday, which empowers Congress to nullify rules issued by federal agencies to evade the administration's appliance ban, as exclusively reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Palmer stated in an exclusive interview with Planet Chronicle Digital that the ban on water heaters is a radical measure taken by the Biden administration, which is an example of government overreach on their way out the door. He added that the government doesn't care about consumers.
Supporters of Biden's regulation, including the Appliance Standards Awareness Project, argue that it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions from water heaters sold over 30 years by 32 million metric tons.
The new water heater rule will have serious economic consequences for working Americans, as households will have to pay out of pocket for a compliant model.
Several other Republican lawmakers have joined the Alabama congressman in expressing confidence that the CRA will pass in the House.
Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., one of the cosponsors of the CRA, stated on Planet Chronicle that "Joe Biden's last-minute attempt to prohibit gas water heaters in his final days as president is nothing more than another green energy scheme."
"Burlison stated in a Planet Chronicle Digital shared statement that the latest attack on American consumers is not about saving the planet but rather control, higher costs, and imposing an unsustainable, radical agenda on every household. He urged the public to stand up against this tyranny of regulations and protect their freedoms and choices."
Other Republican co-sponsors include Reps. Julia Letlow of Louisiana, Mike Collins of Georgia, Randy Weber of Texas, Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma, Barry Moore of Alabama, Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Claudia Tenney of New York, Russ Fulcher of Idaho, Jack Bergman of Michigan, Dan Crenshaw of Texas, Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota, Jeff Hurd of Colorado, and Jim Baird of Indiana.
The National Propane Gas Association supports overturning the ban, stating that it threatens to eliminate the market for non-condensing instantaneous gas water heaters.
According to Steve Kaminski, president and CEO of the National Propane Gas Association, this rule would force families to upgrade their equipment with expensive retrofits, despite the minimal energy savings and questionable economic benefits, imposing an unjust financial burden.
During his term, Biden has introduced regulations on various household appliances, including washing machines, gas stoves, and ceiling fans.
Palmer stated that the Republican-controlled congress is expected to be "very aggressive" in repealing some of the regulations resulting from Biden's climate plan.
