Biden's "garbage" remark about Trump supporters sparks silence from Kamala Harris campaign.
After the president referred to 74 million voters as "garbage," top Democrats have remained silent.
Vice President Kamala Harris and top Democrats remained silent after President Biden's "garbage" comment about Trump supporters.
Since Biden's remark during a Zoom call with Voto Latino on Tuesday, the Harris campaign has remained silent.
During the call, Biden was questioned about a remark made at a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage."
Democrats expressed outrage over Trump's campaign referring to Puerto Rico in a certain manner for two days.
As Harris was hosting her final significant campaign event near the White House, Biden was queried about his thoughts on Hinchcliffe's comedy routine at the Trump rally in New York.
"His supporters are the only garbage floating out there," Biden said on Tuesday. "Trump's demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American."
The two words that everyone focused on after the statement were "garbage" and "supporters," which kept the Harris campaign from saying anything six days before the 2024 presidential election.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment.
None of the top Democrats have openly spoken about Biden's comments, and those who were openly defiant against Trump after Hinchcliffe's comment at the rally have been silent since Biden made his remark.
Several prominent Republicans running for reelection, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Senator Rick Scott, have remained silent following Biden's description of their supporters as "garbage."
Nearly half of the country's voters were labeled "garbage" by the sitting president, according to the Federal Elections Commission, based on the 74.2 million votes he received in the 2020 election.
