Biden's 'garbage' comment about GOP supporters prompts another response from Trump.
The 2024 election is just a week away, and the president has made a comment.
President Joe Biden's "garbage" remark about Trump supporters has been responded to twice by former President Donald Trump, with the most recent response given just before midnight.
During a virtual campaign rally with Kamala Harris on Tuesday, Biden was questioned about a comment made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump rally on Sunday, where he referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage."
The president remarked, "The only trash I observe out there are Trump backers."
Nearly half of the country's voters were labeled "garbage" by the sitting president, according to the Federal Elections Commission, based on the 74.2 million votes he received in the 2020 election.
Trump didn’t hesitate to tweet a response.
While I am advocating for positive solutions to save America, Kamala Harris is promoting hate, and now Joe Biden is calling our supporters 'garbage.' You cannot lead America if you do not love its people. Both Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are unfit to be President of the United States.
"As the leader of the largest, most diverse, and significant political alliance in American history, I am proud to extend a warm welcome to an unprecedented number of Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans, and individuals from every race, religion, color, and creed. My ultimate goal as President is to serve as the representative of all the people."
During a rally with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Trump first learned about Biden's "garbage" language. Rubio reportedly informed Trump of the allegation.
"Trump remarked, "Wow, that's terrible," before recalling Hillary Clinton's "deplorable" remarks, which he added, "And then she said irredeemable. That didn't work out.""
""I believe garbage is more detrimental, but he is unaware. Kindly forgive him," Trump stated."
Biden made his comment during Harris's final significant campaign event, which took place close to the White House.
The White House tried walking back Biden’s statement by releasing this:
"I tweeted earlier today that the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spoken by Trump's supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally was garbage. I find his demonization of Latinos unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally do not reflect who we are as a nation."
Nationwide, voting has commenced prior to Election Day on November 5th.
