Biden's decision to give Trump the spotlight during his final weeks in office infuriates progressive Democrats.
A progressive group spokesman has characterized President Biden as "the weakest of weak leaders."
President Biden's lame duck era is causing frustration among Progressive Democrats, as President-elect Trump continues to dominate the news cycle with Cabinet nominations and meetings with world leaders.
In the weeks since Trump won re-election, Biden has kept a low profile and allowed Trump to take center stage at several events. Biden sent his wife, first lady Jill Biden, to the re-opening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, giving Trump the chance to greet French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in front of the cameras.
Justice Democrats spokesman Usamah Andrabi stated in the Wall Street Journal that the current Democratic administration is one of the weakest they have seen, representing a significant missed opportunity.
Democrats also believe that Biden and the White House have not been critical enough of Trump's Cabinet nominees. Trump has already had one nominee withdraw, former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and Pete Hegseth, Trump's nominee for defense secretary and a former Planet Chronicle host, has also drawn criticism.
Inslee, the Democratic governor of Washington, advised that they should be less restricted and more motivated. He urged them to speak out, opposing the nominees who are destined to cause harm.
"According to Waleed Shahid, a progressive Democratic strategist, many Americans are unaware of Kash Patel, Matt Gaetz, and Tulsi Gabbard, despite their prominence in politics. However, if President Biden were to speak about them, more Americans would become familiar with their names. To win the attention of voters, President Biden must go to them and explain things clearly, which he has not consistently done."
The White House countered criticism of Biden's domestic policies, stating that he has been occupied with international travels.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates informed the Journal that President Biden is making every day of his term count as he pushes forward with an unprecedented agenda that will benefit hardworking Americans for generations.
The Trump administration has been heavily criticized by top Democratic governors, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who declared an initiative to "Trump-proof" California and allocated $25 million for potential legal battles with the administration.
Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey stated that he is ready to battle the Trump administration fiercely, but acknowledged the importance of maintaining a cooperative relationship with the White House.
"If your values are under threat or innocent communities and individuals are being targeted, you must fight fiercely. Additionally, you must establish a relationship with the person in question."
