"The health of women, including our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and colleagues, impacts not only their well-being but also the prosperity of the entire nation," Biden stated at the conference. "Unfortunately, this message has not yet been fully understood by the other team. I am absolutely certain of this."

During her confirmation hearings, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, appointed by Biden to the Supreme Court, refused to define what a woman was when pressed on the issue.

Sarah Perry, a civil rights attorney at The Heritage Foundation, pointed out that Biden's remarks conveyed an underlying message that "abortion is health care," which was a contentious issue for Republicans during the 2020 election.
