Biden and Trump criticize the DOJ after Trump pardons Hunter.
The President's "word as a Biden" seems to have limited impact.
Joe Biden repeatedly lied.
The President of the United States, who had repeatedly promised, pledged, and vowed not to pardon his son Hunter, ultimately did the opposite and granted him a pardon.
The vote of no confidence in his Justice Department by the move amounted to a devastating match with Donald Trump's own denunciations of that very department.
Trump, who pardoned several political allies during his first term, was prompt to respond on Truth Social.
"Did Joe's pardon of Hunter cover the J-6 hostages, who have been imprisoned for years? This is a clear abuse and miscarriage of justice!"
And prominent Republicans are calling Biden a liar, with ample justification.
It's likely that many individuals believed a father wouldn't allow his son to be imprisoned. If the president had phrased it that way, he may have gained some public empathy. However, he didn't.
I assumed that the president wouldn't repeatedly promise not to pardon his son or commute his sentence if he believed there was any chance of Hunter being cleared of legal charges.
What will happen after he leaves office next month and his political career ends? The story will fade quickly.
Biden accused the DOJ of treating his son unfairly, which sounded similar to Trump's accusations against the same department. This opened the door for Biden to retaliate against Justice, potentially by naming Kash Patel to run the FBI.
Biden accused the special counsel of unfairly prosecuting his son and claimed political pressure was responsible.
"It is clear that Hunter was targeted solely because he is my son, which is unjust. Despite his 5-1/2 years of sobriety and the relentless attacks and selective prosecution he faced, Hunter has been broken. This attempt to break Hunter has also tried to break me, and it must stop. It is time for enough."
The rewritten sentence is: "The Trump argument that he was singled out for selective prosecution by the DOJ will be strengthened by his ability to take action."
After receiving a pardon on Sunday, Hunter stated, "I have acknowledged and taken responsibility for my errors during my addiction's darkest days, which have been used to publicly humiliate and shame me and my family for political gain."
The feeble attempts by some in the media and in Democratic politics to defend Biden are disappointing, as they only provide a partial perspective.
If Hunter Biden's last name was Jones instead of Biden, the case would have been routinely disposed of, despite his prior conviction and guilty plea for tax and gun-related charges.
Hunter's last name, which was linked to his father's position as vice president, helped him secure lucrative contracts from various countries, including Burisma in Ukraine and China.
Hunter lacked expertise in all of these areas but possessed a strong bond with a powerful father.
The pardon granted to Hunter Biden covers all of his actions from January 1, 2004 to Sunday, potentially serving as a means of self-protection for his father.
On multiple occasions, Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Biden would not grant a pardon to Hunter.
On Sunday night, Hunter Biden made a statement about his recovery from addiction and his current state of sobriety.
"I have acknowledged and accepted accountability for my errors during my addiction's most challenging times — errors that have been used to publicly embarrass and disgrace me and my loved ones for political gain."
Hunter Biden's addiction problems were known to Joe Biden before he ran for president, and Biden lied about Hunter not receiving money from China and not assisting his business clients, even if it was just during small talk at group meetings.
The appointment of Kash Patel to replace Chris Wray as FBI director, chosen by Trump, has caused a media uproar.
No one can dispute that Patel lacks experience. He has held several high-ranking positions, including chief of staff at the Pentagon and a deputy assistant to the president. Prior to Trump's entry into politics, he was a national security prosecutor in the Obama Justice Department.
On Steve Bannon's podcast last year, Patel stated: "We will pursue legal action against media outlets that falsely reported on American citizens who helped Biden win the presidential election."
On day one, Patel plans to shut down the FBI headquarters in Washington, rename it the "deep state" museum, and relocate its 7,000 employees across the country.
Unlike Trump, who appointed his daughter and son-in-law to high-ranking government positions, Biden never put any family members on the government payroll during his presidency.
Jared's father, Charles Kushner, has been appointed as the ambassador to France by Trump.
Jared Kushner's interest in prison reform was sparked after his father, the elder Kushner, had already served a couple of years in prison for a prostitution scheme and was later pardoned by Trump.
Tiffany Trump's father, Massad Boulos, was appointed as White House adviser on Arab and Middle East affairs by President Trump.
The press often labels Trump nominees as "loyalists," implying it is a negative term. An example of this can be seen in Sunday's Washington Post, which referred to "loyalist Kash Patel" in its headline.
Biden's longtime aides were not dismissed as loyalists because the media agreed they were the "good guys." Former AG Eric Holder also described himself as Barack Obama's "wingman."
The pardon of the Hunter has sparked a potential cycle of presidents using the DOJ and FBI for partisan purposes, and it is entirely Biden's fault.
