Biden administration faces legal challenge from red state over border policy impact on schools.
The administration is being sued for $470M in Oklahoma over the cost of educating thousands of illegal immigrant children.
The Biden administration is being sued by the state of Oklahoma for causing "massive chaos" in the public school system through four years of open border policies.
The Oklahoma State Department of Education and Superintendent Ryan Walters have launched a suit against President Biden's Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, demanding a refund of the approximately $470 million spent on educating thousands of illegal immigrant children over the past four years.
Walters, who filed a lawsuit in the Western District Court of Oklahoma today, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that public schools are "burdened with undocumented immigrants" who are straining the system's resources and limiting opportunities for the children of law-abiding citizens.
Nearly 3,000 unaccompanied migrant children are placed in Oklahoma annually, despite the state spending approximately $11,000 per student annually, according to data from the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
Oklahoma schools are facing challenges in providing adequate resources for immigrant children, including certified teachers for students with limited English proficiency, transportation, and individualized education plans. These challenges have a long-term impact on school budgets and the quality of education for all students in the state, according to Walters.
""The school system is in chaos, and it's the students who are suffering. Walters stated that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris intentionally caused this, and we must protect our kids and get our states back on track with education," said Walters."
Despite being President-elect, Donald Trump stated that Oklahoma taxpayers are still bearing the expenses of the Biden administration's unsuccessful border policies.
An NBC interview with outgoing ICE Director P.J. Lechleitner revealed that the Biden administration "absolutely" should have acted sooner to shut down the border.
Walters stated that they were aware of the occurrence yet took no action.
"Joe Biden's top ICE director admitted that they allowed the law to be broken and that the orders came from the top, including Biden and Kamala Harris. We cannot let them escape responsibility for the chaos they caused. This lawsuit will hold them accountable for their actions."
Oklahoma's suit against the Biden administration has been supported by Walters, who urged other states to join in, emphasizing the negative impact of illegal immigration on schools and states.
He stated that this is the future we're discussing and our goal is to restore education.
"To get the Trump administration the support they need, you can hold the current administration accountable by obtaining this data and information. In Oklahoma, we will not tolerate Kamala Harris and Joe Biden allowing our schools to be overrun with illegal immigrants. By filing this lawsuit, we will hold them accountable to the taxpayers of the state of Oklahoma."
