At a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump reiterated his criticism of the Biden administration for selling off border wall materials at a discount, stating: "Either these individuals hate our country or they are incompetent."

The private company managing the border wall sales was slammed by him for attempting to sell the materials back to his incoming administration at a significant upcharge.

""The guy [President Joe Biden] was being sold back his product at double the price he paid for it, as he was being bought out for five cents on the dollar," he stated."

Unfinished border wall carted off years after Biden admin halts construction

Since 2023, the Biden administration has been selling off border wall parts on auction marketplaces after halting most construction in 2021.

In December, a Department of Defense official informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the materials being sold through online auctions were previously sold by the federal government in 2024, with a significant portion of the materials being purchased by a government surplus retailer called Gov Planet.

The Biden administration agreed to a court order to halt the sale of wall material following a lawsuit by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

In December, Trump stated that the Biden administration's border wall sales were "almost a criminal act" and would result in American taxpayers losing "hundreds of millions of dollars."

On Tuesday, Trump stated that the private retailer was requesting payment of 200 cents, claiming it was a good deal because they could acquire it promptly.

Trump responded by saying, "Just leave it in place."

"Luckily, we had a highly intelligent judge who put an end to it. However, consider this: the wall they were selling was the exact one the Border Patrol wanted, which was made of steel, concrete, and rebar, and was of the highest quality and extremely expensive. It would have cost us twice as much as we paid six years ago."

Trump stated that the Biden administration consists of individuals who either dislike the country or are unintelligent.

"He said that the wall was being sold for five cents on the dollar and they were trying to resell it back to us for less than 200 cents on the dollar, but for 200 cents on the dollar, which is like all the other things these people do."
