As the inauguration date approaches, Trump names new Cabinet deputies.
The start of Trump's second term is on January 20th.
Trump revealed his picks for key Cabinet positions through social media posts on Saturday as his inauguration approaches.
Trump, who will assume office in under a week, declared on Truth Social on Saturday afternoon. He first announced Katharine MacGregor as the new deputy secretary of the interior, a role she previously held in Trump's first term.
"Katharine currently serves as Vice President of Environmental Services at NextEra Energy, Inc., and previously worked at the Department of the Interior during my first four years as President," Trump wrote. "She played a crucial role in our efforts to make our nation the dominant energy force and was also a key member of the team that created our historic 'Salute to America' at the National Mall."
David Fotouhi was appointed by Trump as the next EPA deputy administrator.
"David served as the EPA's Acting General Counsel during my First Term and is now a Partner at Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher LLP. In our Second Term, he will work alongside EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to promote pro-growth policies, enhance America's energy independence, and prioritize clean air, water, and soil for all Americans."
James P. Danly, a retired U.S. Army Officer who served for two tours in Iraq and earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, was named by the president-elect as the next U.S. deputy secretary of energy.
"James served as General Counsel, Commissioner, and Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission during my First Term, winning numerous cases before the Federal Courts and driving regulatory reform to provide abundant and affordable energy for the American People," Trump wrote. "James earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School."
Trump named Paul R. Lawrence as his next deputy secretary of veteran affairs in his final deputy announcement.
During my first term, Paul served as a great VA Under Secretary of Benefits, implementing legislation I signed to enhance the GI Bill and modernize the appeals process. He also played a crucial role in reducing the VA claims backlog to its lowest level in history. Prior to his service in the VA, Paul was a partner at Ernst & Young and the public sector vice president at Kaiser Associates.
"Doug Collins, our next VA Secretary, will collaborate with him to ensure our Hero Vets receive the care and respect they deserve, honoring their sacrifices for our Country."
The United States Small Business Administration appointed University of Chicago professor Casey B. Mulligan as its chief counsel for advocacy.
Trump referred to Mulligan as a highly respected expert on the regulations that are negatively impacting small businesses.
"As the Chief Economist of my Council of Economic Advisers during my First Term, Casey played a crucial role in shaping the Economic policies that led to the best economy in American history. Now, he will collaborate with Kelly Loeffler, our outstanding nominee for SBA Administrator, to streamline regulations and foster the growth of Small Businesses like never before."
