The number of migrants arriving in San Diego has increased significantly, with arrivals coming from various countries, including China.
On Friday, Border Patrol released a large group of migrants in San Diego Sector, which was captured by Planet Chronicle cameras. This occurred as the sector grapples with an increase in migrant numbers, coinciding with California Gov. Gavin Newsom's meeting with President Biden at the White House.
Migrants were released onto the streets in San Ysidro by the Border Patrol bus and then handed over to a non-governmental organization for assistance before continuing to their final destination.
Those from India, Senegal, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador were among the migrants who traveled to destinations such as Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and New Jersey.
Gov. Newsom is among several governors scheduled to meet with President Biden at the White House to discuss the ongoing and historic migrant crisis. Recent polls indicate that Biden's approval rating on the border crisis is extremely low.
The Senate bill, backed by the White House, aims to increase staffing and resources at the border while restricting asylum claims by migrants. However, conservatives argue that the bill does not go far enough and would normalize high levels of illegal immigration. They suggest that President Biden can modify policies to address the three-year-old crisis at the border.
