While Harris is preparing for the debate in Pittsburgh, Trump has enlisted the help of former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to hone his skills. Gabbard, who endorsed Trump and had a memorable moment attacking Harris on the debate stage in 2020, is now assisting Trump in his preparation.
Trump is predicted to prioritize inflation and immigration in the 2024 election, while Harris will concentrate on abortion rights, which is tied with inflation at 14%, as the second-most significant issue. The Trump campaign is expected to use the strategy of linking Harris to Biden's weaker areas in the debate. The overturning of Roe v. Wade has proven to be one of Trump's greatest political weaknesses.

The 2024 debate between Biden and Trump was the first time a sitting president and a former president ever debated. It was also the most consequential in history as it led Biden to abandon his 2024 bid.
The president had difficulty presenting a clear defense during the debate and sometimes failed to complete his sentences. Biden concluded an argument about his border security record, and Trump joked, "I'm not sure what he meant at the end of that sentence. I think he's unsure himself."
The Atlanta debate between Trump and Biden, which focused on abortion, immigration, foreign policy, and inflation, drew 51.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. At the time, Real Clear Politics had Trump leading Biden by 1.5 points.

In Nashville, Tennessee, less than two weeks before Election Day, Trump and Biden faced off in a subdued debate, with new rules silencing each candidate's microphone.
Biden and Trump engaged in a dispute over their personal finances, with Trump accusing Biden of earning money from foreign sources and being corrupt. A recent report from House Republicans claimed that Biden was involved in a conspiracy to exploit his position of power for financial gain.
Trump questioned Biden's accomplishments over his nearly 50-year public service career, stating that he decided to run for president due to the Obama administration's "poor job."

The debate between Trump and Biden was marked by Trump's constant interruptions, which led to an exasperated Biden declaring, "will you shut up, man?" The debate quickly descended into chaos as the two sparred over abortion rights and Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Trump persistently pushed Biden on whether he would "pack" the Supreme Court in the wake of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death. As the two men heatedly talked over each other about the pandemic, Trump declared, "I’ll tell you Joe, you could never have done the job that we did. You don't have it in your blood."
Trump did not hesitate to launch personal attacks on Biden, insulting his intelligence and stating, "You're not smart, Joe."
The Cleveland debate between Trump and Biden was the third most-watched Trump-Biden matchup, with 73.1 million viewers. On the day of the debate, Real Clear Politics had Biden leading Trump by 6.1 points.

In the final debate of the 2016 cycle, Clinton and Trump focused more on each other's personal weaknesses than on policy. When Clinton tried to link Trump to Russia, he countered by saying that Putin does not respect Clinton or Obama and that he did not know Putin. As they argued over Obamacare and Social Security, Trump referred to Clinton as a "nasty woman."
In the debate, Clinton frequently criticized Trump's character. Her strongest words were directed at his treatment of women. Trump strongly denied any accusations of inappropriate behavior towards women. "Nobody respects women more than I do," he stated.
Trump's refusal to accept the election results echoed his stance in 2020, as he maintained that the process was rigged and only agreed to "look at it at the time."

During the debate, Trump launched a scathing attack against Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, accusing him of being the most abusive man in political history towards women. When asked about his own behavior towards women, Trump deflected the question and did not provide an answer.
