All DEI offices in the White House OPM must close by the end of the day on Wednesday.
By the end of day Wednesday, all federal workers involved in DEI initiatives will be placed on paid administrative leave.
The White House's Office of Personnel Management has instructed heads of agencies and departments to shut down all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offices by Wednesday and put government employees in those offices on paid leave, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.
On Tuesday evening, Charles Ezell, the Acting Director of the Office of Personnel Management, issued a memo to heads and acting heads of departments and agencies, instructing them to complete the task by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22.
- Notify all employees about the closure and request them to share any information about attempts to conceal these programs through coded or vague language.
- All DEIA offices and programs are being closed, and all employees are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately.
- Remove all online platforms for DEIA offices.
- Withdraw any documents, directives, orders, materials, and equity plans issued by the agency in response to the now-repealed Executive Order 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal Workforce (June 25, 2021).
- Cancel any DEIA-related trainings, and terminate any DEIA-related contractors.
OPM was instructed by the memo to receive sharing of information from heads of agencies and departments by 12:00pm on Thursday.
- A comprehensive inventory of DEIA offices and their staff as of November 5, 2024.
- As of November 5, 2024, a comprehensive inventory of all DEIA-related agency contracts is available.
- Any agency intends to fully comply with the above Executive Orders and this memorandum.
By Friday at 5pm, agency heads must submit to OPM:
- A plan for reducing the number of employees in a DEIA office.
- Since November 5, 2024, a list of all contract descriptions or personnel position descriptions that were changed to conceal their link to DEIA programs.
An executive order signed by President Trump resulted in the elimination of all DEI programs from the federal government.
The president signed an order declaring that the U.S. government will only recognize two genders: male and female.
