President Biden stated that choosing Vice President Harris as his running mate in the 2024 race was the "best decision" he made after her concession speech on Wednesday.
Biden stated that Harris led a "historic campaign" under "extraordinary circumstances."
Biden stated that Harris' campaign "represented what can be achieved when driven by a strong moral compass and a clear vision for a nation that is more free, just, and offers more opportunities for all Americans."
After being named the 2020 presidential nominee, Biden's first decision was to choose Harris as his running mate.
Biden stated that it was the best decision he made. Her story embodies the best of America's story. Furthermore, he expressed confidence that she would continue to write that story.
After telling her supporters at Howard University that she had lost her race against Trump, Harris made the statement.
"The election results were not what we desired, not what we struggled for, and not what we voted for," Harris stated. "However, I urge you to remember that the flame of America's promise will continue to shine, as long as we persist and continue to fight."
On Election Night, Harris intended to uplift the Wednesday audience with a more optimistic message.
As Harris stepped onto the stage, she was surrounded by a sea of American flags and saw the somber expressions on the faces of the audience. There were 30 flags displayed around her.
