According to a report, President-elect Trump is considering a return visit to China as president with his advisors.

During his first term in 2017, the incoming president visited Beijing and spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping over the phone on Friday.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has been considering a visit to China to strengthen ties with the communist country, despite previously threatening it with tariffs, according to sources familiar with the matter.

"On Friday, Trump tweeted that he had spoken to Chinese President Xi Jinping and that the call was beneficial for both China and the U.S.A. He stated that he believed they would solve many issues together, starting immediately, and discussed topics such as trade, fentanyl, TikTok, and more. Trump and Xi pledged to work together to make the world safer and more peaceful."

Xi also met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in 2017.

No senior Chinese official has ever attended a U.S. presidential inauguration, but Chinese Vice President Han Zheng will be attending instead, in a first.

Trump and Xi plan to establish a strategic communication channel, according to China, with Trump expressing his eagerness to meet Xi in person as soon as possible.
