According to a report, Nancy Pelosi will not attend the Trump inauguration ceremony.
Michelle Obama and Pelosi will both be absent from Trump's inauguration.
Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House, has announced that she will not attend President-elect Trump's inauguration next week.
Pelosi has skipped 11 inauguration ceremonies, including Trump's first in 2017. Despite not providing an explanation for her absence, she has a history of opposing the president-elect in dramatic ways.
Trump has consistently criticized the former speaker at his campaign events, labeling her as an "enemy."
"She's a bad person, evil. She's an evil, sick, crazy," Trump said before appearing to mouth the word "b*tch," at a campaign rally in Michigan. "Oh no. It starts with a B– but I won't say it. I want to say it. I want to say it."
In 2020, Pelosi famously tore apart a copy of Trump's State of the Union address while standing behind him on the floor of Congress.
Michelle Obama, the former first lady, intends to avoid President Trump's inauguration, while her ex-husband, the former president, intends to attend. Michelle was also absent from the funeral for President Carter, where Trump was present.
On January 9, 2021, at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., former presidents Trump, Bush, and Clinton, as well as their spouses, attended the funeral of Jimmy Carter. Additionally, former President Barack Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, and former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife were present.
Bill Clinton, the former president, will attend the upcoming swearing-in ceremony, as confirmed by a source close to his schedule. Hillary Clinton, the former first lady, will also be present, according to a spokesperson. The Office of George W. Bush announced that he and his wife, Laura, will also attend the ceremony.
The 2017 inauguration of President Trump was attended by all three former presidents and their wives, including Hillary Clinton, who lost the 2016 election to Trump. Carter also attended.
President Biden's inauguration in 2021 was not attended by President-elect Trump and former first lady Melania Trump.
