ABC becomes more critical of Trump, while Kamala continues to attack him personally.
Trump encountered 'greater scrutiny, more probing inquiries, more rigorous fact-checking, and more revisions'
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris started with their arguments, and she was the first to use humor.
During the ABC debate, moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis questioned Vice President Kamala Harris about the country's current state compared to four years ago. Harris, who grew up in a middle-class family, expressed her desire to improve the lives of working-class Americans. She also discussed her plans to address the housing crisis and her passion for supporting small businesses. In contrast, Trump's plan, according to Harris, focused on reducing taxes for his wealthy friends and large corporations.
The president initially spoke positively about the tariffs he placed on China.
Four years ago, she believed in Marxism.
If she wins, Israel will not exist in two years.
Trump made a statement about Joe Biden without providing evidence, saying, "He hates her and can't stand her."
In Springfield, Ohio, there were no reports of Haitians eating dogs or pets, as Trump falsely claimed. The city manager confirmed this.
As the debate progressed, Trump's anger intensified, with Harris chuckling at him at one point. She shifted her gaze between him and the audience, while he barely paid her any attention.
Trump's statement about the job done with the pandemic is debatable.
When questioned about abortion, Harris became the most passionate and stated that Trump would enact a countrywide ban on the procedure.
The veep stated that pregnant women were being denied emergency care and a 12-year old survivor of incest was forced to carry the baby to term.
Trump claimed that every legal scholar wanted the abortion issue returned to the states, but that is not accurate.
Trump accused the Democrats of being radicals because they support abortion up to the ninth month, and cited a foolish remark by the former Virginia governor about deciding after birth, which is unlawful.
Harris stated that the person found guilty of sexual assault is extremely wealthy, citing the E. Jean Carroll case and listing several charges.
Trump accused the administration of "weaponizing" law enforcement against him, claiming that they were responsible for the investigations against him, without providing any evidence.
The ex-president made an accusation without evidence that Harris paid people to attend her rallies.
Trump's statement about the assassination attempt, "I probably took a bullet to the head because of their rhetoric," was followed by his use of the phrase "Russia Russia Russia," which may have been confusing to casual viewers.
Harris made statements that were not accurate. She claimed in 2020 that she was not opposed to fracking, but what she truly said was that Biden would not ban it. She also stated that Biden had threatened a "bloodbath" if he lost, but he actually said that about the American auto industry.
Trump was questioned by ABC about his failure to create a video urging protestors to leave on January 6th. He explained that what was omitted from his speech was his request for the demonstrators to behave peacefully and patriotically.
Trump was accused by Harris of inciting a violent mob that resulted in the injury of 150 law enforcement officials and the death of some.
Despite ABC's questioning about her past opposition to fracking and private health insurance, Harris maintained that her values have not changed.
ABC inquired twice about Ukraine's victory in the war, but Trump responded, "I want the war to end." He added, "It's in the U.S.'s best interest to negotiate a deal and end the conflict."
She met with Volodomyr Zelenskyy days before the invasion to share U.S. intelligence. If Donald Trump were president, Putin would be sitting in Kyiv right now.
My scorecard:
Kamala Harris effectively defended herself against Trump's attacks, presented her argument, and counterattacked him while mostly maintaining her composure.
Despite Harris' attempts to get under Trump's skin, Trump delivered a strong performance and landed several blows.
ABC responded to Trump's criticism by increasing the difficulty of its questioning, conducting more follow-ups, fact-checking, and correcting mistakes, proving Trump's claim that the network is the "meanest."
Now the partisan spinning gets under way in earnest.
