A report suggests that Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn is considering a run for governor.
The Knox County Mayor has stated his support for Blackburn if she decides to run for governor.
According to Axios, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., has been making calls and sharing information about her potential gubernatorial bid.
According to a source, elected figures at both the state and federal levels have expressed support for Blackburn's potential candidacy, as reported by an outlet.
On Wednesday, Planet Chronicle Digital contacted Blackburn's campaign seeking a comment from the lawmaker, but did not receive a reply before the deadline for publication.
If Blackburn decides to run, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs will support her.
Senator Blackburn has excelled in her roles as a state senator, U.S. congresswoman, and U.S. Senator. If she chooses to become Governor, she would do an excellent job and have my complete support.
Blackburn, who has been serving in the Senate since early 2019, has been re-elected to another six-year term, which will end in early 2031.
"Today marks the beginning of the 2025 Tennessee Legislative Session, as declared by Blackburn in a tweet on Tuesday. The focus is now on working to uphold the state's conservative values and fight for the rights of all Tennesseans."
Bill Lee, the current Republican governor of Tennessee, is unable to run for re-election in 2026, creating an opportunity for other GOP candidates to compete for the position.
