A poll has shown that the majority of Americans are not in favor of President Biden pardoning his son Hunter.
Biden consistently declared that he would not grant a pardon to Hunter.
A recent poll shows that only 20% of Americans approve of President Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter, after previously stating he would not give his son a pass.
A poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research revealed that approximately half of adults disapprove of the pardon given to Hunter, who was convicted of felony gun and tax charges.
The poll revealed that 18% of adults neither supported nor opposed the decision, while 8% stated that they lacked sufficient information to make a decision.
Democrats were less likely to approve of the pardon than Republicans and Independents, with only 38% approving compared to 27% who disapproved.
A poll revealed that 51% of Independents and 80% of Republicans disapproved of the pardon.
On Dec. 1, Biden granted a comprehensive pardon to Hunter, despite his earlier statement that he would not pardon him if a jury found him guilty.
Earlier this year, the first son was convicted in two separate federal cases. In September, he pleaded guilty to federal tax charges, and in June, he was convicted of three felony gun charges after lying on a mandatory gun purchase form, claiming he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.
The president contended in a statement that Hunter was targeted solely due to his relationship with him and that there was an attempt to destroy Hunter in order to destroy him.
The day after the pardon, reporters questioned White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about whether Biden and his surrogates had lied to the American people. Jean-Pierre replied, "The president believes in always being truthful with the American people," and frequently referenced Biden's own statement on the matter.
