A freshman GOP senator receives praise on social media for their response to Hegseth's answer on the gender question.
Pete Hegseth will excel at the Pentagon, according to Senator Tim Sheehy.
On Tuesday, social media was ablaze with conservative outrage after a heated exchange between Pete Hegseth and Sen. Tim Sheehy about gender identity.
"On Tuesday, Hegseth was asked by the Montana senator, "How many genders are there?""
Hegseth responded, "Senator, there are two genders."
"As a Sheehy, I'm on board," Sheehy stated, alluding to the "she" and "he" in his last name.
The freshman senator's joke was met with laughter from Hegseth, who then inquired about the diameter of a round fired from a M4A1 rifle and how many pushups he could do, being a fellow combat veteran.
The line of questioning, particularly the exchange on gender which Sheehy previously joked about on the campaign trail, immediately drew a response from conservatives.
"Right on," GOP Congressman Darrell Issa posted on X.
Benny Johnson, a conservative influencer, posed a question on X.
Ian Haworth, a conservative commentator, posted on X that he believes he has told the best joke ever in Congress.
"BEST EVER!" radio host Steve Gruber posted on X.
Mark Hemingway, a senior writer at RealClearInvestigations, stated on X that the new senator from Montana is a significant improvement over former Democratic Senator Jon Tester, who was defeated by Sheehy in November.
Riley Gaines, a conservative commentator and former NCAA swimmer, posted on X that Montana knew what they were doing when they put @TimSheehyMT in the Senate.
Wendy Rogers, an Arizona Republican state senator, posted on X.
On Tuesday night, Planet Chronicle host Sean Hannity was informed by Sheehy that Hegseth would excel in his role and that they backed him.
"Sheehy stated, "My questions were directed that way to remind people of the job's true purpose: supporting the war fighter and safeguarding America.""
