David West Read's '& Juliet' reimagines Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' by presenting an alternate ending where Juliet chooses life as an independent woman instead of committing suicide. The musical also features a nonbinary character named May, who is Juliet's best friend.
On Saturday night, at New York's Stephen Sondheim Theatre, Jackson became the first Supreme Court justice to join a cast that includes TikTok star Charli D'Amelio and other Broadway performers for a one-time performance.
She donned a denim ensemble with a blue theme, featuring a corset and a floral headpiece. In one scene of the show, her character passionately declares, "Empowerment for women, awesome!" and in another, she belts out the Backstreet Boys' hit, "Lonely."
The "& Juliet" marketing team announced on Instagram that Jackson's cameo fulfilled a lifelong fantasy of becoming the first Black, female Supreme Court justice to appear on a Broadway stage.
Many members of the public did not approve of her decision to perform on stage.

Liz Wheeler, a conservative commentator, stated that Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson appeared in the Broadway show "& Juliet," which is a "queer" adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. Therefore, when Ketanji Brown Jackson refused to define "what is a woman" during her Senate confirmation hearing, she was not acting as a brilliant legal mind. Instead, she was and still is a radical leftist DEI hire promoting harmful, Neo-Marxist, anti-woman transgender ideology.
Colin Rugg, an influencer, stated that he would prefer if our country was not governed by the eccentric theater kids.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk jokingly suggested Jackson "should sing her verdicts."
Although Jackson's performance was not universally mocked, Santos reacted positively, saying, "I love this! Humanizing the one part of the government that's never been humanized! Good on this partnership!"
