On Thursday, over 140 Democrats opposed a House bill that aimed to remove illegal immigrants who have been convicted of sex offenses.

The bill was passed by a bipartisan vote of 274 to 145, with all present Republicans supporting it and the opposition coming entirely from Democrats.

The bill, initially proposed by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., in the 118th Congress, was not considered by the Senate, which was then under Democratic control. A total of 158 Democrats voted against the bill.

"During the debate on the bill, Mace stated that our country has been devastated by the illegal immigrants who are committing violent acts against American women and girls. He emphasized the long-lasting and irreversible harm that these heinous crimes inflict on the victims."

Elon Musk has been a vocal supporter of the bill, urging lawmakers who opposed it to lose their House seats.

"Please provide a list of those who opposed the law and want to keep convicted sex offenders in America," Musk wrote on X in response to a conservative influencer discussing the bill. "All of them need to be voted out of office."

The legislation would classify immigrants who confess to domestic violence or sex-related offenses, or are convicted of them, as inadmissible in the U.S. in addition to deporting those convicted of sex crimes.

Democrats contended that the bill would harm domestic abuse victims who defend themselves against their partners and widen the scope of domestic violence, to the detriment of survivors.

In the morning debate on the bill, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., stated that the bill does not solve the needs of the American people and supports Trump's mass deportation plans by expanding the highway.

Jayapal stated that it would "intimidate future reporting of crimes" and "enable abusers to target immigrant women and children."

During the debate on the bill, Mace expressed his disbelief that the Left continues to justify their opposition to deporting rapists, pedophiles, and murderers who are in the country illegally.

Tom Emmer, the House Majority Whip and the No. 3 House Republican, criticized Democrats who voted against the bill.

Emmer stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the House Democrats' votes against H.R. 30 were a clear indication of their prioritization of criminal illegal immigrants over the safety and well-being of their constituents. He found it unconscionable that such legislation had to be passed and that members would oppose it.

Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa, one of the Republicans who supported the bill, contended that the Biden administration's border policies necessitated the legislation and asserted that the bill would "guarantee that any illegal immigrant who perpetrates a sex crime or domestic violence offense is promptly detained and expelled."
