Virginia pastor says humanity should "cooperate" with each other instead of "competing."
Işık Abla told Planet Chronicle Digital that there is enough space for everyone in God's plan.
In the cloud, the Lord spoke to Moses and bestowed some of his spirit on the seventy elders, who then prophesied. When a young man told Moses that Eldad and Medad were prophesying in the camp, Joshua, Moses' aide, urged him to stop them. But Moses replied, "Are you jealous of me? I wish all the people of the Lord were prophets, and that he would bestow his spirit on them all!" (Numbers 11:25; 28-29).
The book of Numbers in the Bible is traditionally attributed to Moses, as stated on the Bible Study Tools website.
Işık Abla of Virginia described the message in the excerpt as a "glimpse of the heart of God — abundant, boundless, overflowing," to Planet Chronicle Digital.
Dream Church International's senior pastor, Abla, is a Christian author who was born in Turkey and raised as a Muslim. She moved to America after fleeing an abusive marriage, according to her website.
Abla was reminded of her experience as a newly minted Christian when she thought about Joshua's concern.
As a former Muslim who became a Christian, I struggled with insecurity when I first started my new faith. I didn't feel worthy enough to make a significant impact for God's Kingdom, she shared with Planet Chronicle Digital.
Feeling "rock bottom" in terms of self-worth, she believed that the only thing she could contribute was taking on tasks that others avoided.
"Come to church next Sunday. I want you to give your testimony."
I disqualified myself by comparing myself to others and thinking I wasn't good enough to be used by God in a meaningful way.
Her pastor's response surprised her when she told him she would do anything, even cleaning bathrooms and taking out trash.
"He smiled at me and said, "Come to church next Sunday. I want you to give your testimony.""
Abla was taken aback when she spoke to Planet Chronicle Digital, admitting that she had no idea what a testimony entailed or what was expected of her.
What happened that Sunday would drastically alter her life.
That was the start of my ministry when I stood up and shared my story of how God had transformed my life, she stated.
"I realized that God didn't care about my abilities or limitations. He had already chosen me, even when I didn't feel worthy. This insecurity held me back until I was freed."
Abla said that Moses wanted everyone to be equipped and empowered with the gift of prophecy, a sign of a great leader.
"He wasn't intimidated by other people's gifts. He didn't see them as threats, but as partners in the kingdom."
"He wasn't intimidated by other people's gifts," she said. "He saw them as partners in the kingdom."
Joshua, unlike Moses, "had much to learn" as he journeyed together.
"When we let go of offense, we see the world as God does – overflowing with opportunities for everyone to thrive," Abla said. "He couldn't yet see from heaven's perspective."
She said that "there's enough room for all of us in God's plan," but Joshua had not yet realized this.
"According to the Bible, God does not give His spirit in portions, but rather pours it out lavishly beyond the walls and limits we set," Abla stated.
"God's promise is that His spirit will be poured out on all people, not just a select few or those within the tent," she stated.
Abla told Joshua, "There is no need to compete. Instead, we are called to complete one another and stand together as His spirit fills us all, making us one."
