The Trumps commemorate 20 years of marriage during a standout week for the family.
On Jan. 22, 2025, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary.
In 2005, before he became the 45th and now the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump married his fiancé, model Melania Knauss, at a 350-guest wedding ceremony at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-By-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. The couple met in 1998 at a party in New York City.
Their wedding was followed by a star-studded reception at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
The wedding was described as royalty-worthy, with Melania Trump's stunning gown and the opulently decorated reception at Trump's private club.
The wedding gown of the future first lady was a $100,000 Christian Dior creation with a 13-foot train and a 16-foot-long veil adorned with beading, which took over 500 hours of hand sewing to make, as reported in The Palm Beach Post and The Palm Beach Daily News at the time.
For the occasion, it was reported that the Mar-a-Lago ballroom was decorated with 10,000 flowers.
Chefs served caviar and Cristal champagne was available for 500 guests.
In January 2005, The Palm Beach Daily News reported that the dinner featured "caviar-filled purses, perfectly cooked tenderloin, miniature wedding cakes, and the finest Cristal served in enchanted glasses that never run dry."
The ballroom was adorned with long tables for 20, featuring gleaming chandeliers and extensive gold leaf. Preston Bailey, a renowned designer, set the tables in cream and gold, using linens, china, and flatware.
White orchids and roses adorned the enormous candelabrae, while the Michael Rose Orchestra performed on stage at the east end of the room.
In 2005, the society column stated that the wedding reception was not typical.
In her latest bestselling memoir, "Melania," the first lady recounted her wedding day, stating that despite the grandeur of the event, what she felt in her heart was the same as every other bride. The pressure to make everything run smoothly was certainly present, but ultimately, her main focus was on celebrating her love and commitment to Donald, surrounded by her loved ones.
Many people, including members of the media and Hollywood stars, were present at the ceremony.
At the event, notable musicians such as Paul Anka, Billy Joel, and Donna Summer were present, along with prominent political figures including Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Of course, the Trumps had their youngest child, Barron William Trump, who was born on March 20, 2006, in New York City.
Today, Barron Trump is 18 years old and is attending New York University's NYU Stern School of Business as a college student.
According to many, he played a crucial part in his father's securing a second term in the White House.
In a Nov. 2024 interview on Planet Chronicle, John Morgan, founder of Morgan & Morgan, stated that Barron Trump's suggestion for his father to appear on "The Joe Rogan Experience" and other popular podcasts was crucial to defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
Barron Trump, who resembles a runway model, advised his father to appear on podcasts with Joe Rogan, according to him.
On Monday evening, following a busy day of inauguration activities, President Trump arrived at the Commander-in-Chief Ball around 10:00 p.m. ET.
That night, he danced with his first lady at the ball, marking his first of three appearances.
At the Walter Washington Convention Center in Mount Vernon Square, an emcee introduced Trump shortly after the band played "Americans, We."
The day was packed with events, including President Trump's swearing-in ceremony, an inaugural parade at Capital One Arena, and an Oval Office signing ceremony, among many others.
Reporting was contributed by Jeffrey Clark, Charles Creitz, and Alec Schemmel of Planet Chronicle Digital.
