The USPS honored late 'Jeopardy!' host Alex Trebek with a 'Forever stamp'.
The classic answer-and-question format of the game show is featured on new stamps.
The USPS has honored beloved game show host Alex Trebek with a "Forever stamp," ensuring his legacy will live on forever.
The host of "Jeopardy!" left the show after 37 seasons, making history.
In 2019, he announced his pancreatic cancer diagnosis and passed away on Nov. 8, 2020, just 10 days after filming his final episode, as previously reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.
The 60th anniversary of the game show and an additional 84th birthday celebration in honor of Trebek were celebrated during a ceremony in Culver City, California, where a new honorary stamp was released.
The U.S. Postal Service honored Alex with an extraordinary award, which was a wonderful way to recognize the impact Alex had on so many people, as Jean Trebek, the game show host's widow, stated at the ceremony at John Calley Park at Sony Pictures Studios, according to the USPS press release.
"I believe the stamp design is highly imaginative because it represents Alex Trebek, who is the solution to all the riddles."
The game show's classic "answer-and-question format," recognizable font, and coloring are honored by the stamps.
The stamp commemorates the longtime host by stating a fact about his tenure on the program.
The quiz show 'Jeopardy!' was hosted by a naturalized U.S. citizen for 37 seasons, according to the stamp.
The correct question is "Who is Alex Trebek?" underneath the blue and white colored homage.
The game show led by Trebek had screens similar to the categories listed on a sheet of 20 stamps.
Entertainment: The famous Alex Trebek, known for hosting "Jeopardy!" for over 30 years, has been honored with a "Forever Stamp" by the United States Postal Service.
According to Fox 11, Ken Jennings, a standout "Jeopardy!" contestant and Trebek's successor as host, said that it was fitting that the stamp illustration honored Alex with a "Jeopardy!" clue. He loved the game so much and always emphasized the importance of the clues.
"It makes perfect sense to honor Alex Trebek, an American institution, on a postage stamp. And of course, I had to geek out when I saw that the full sheet of stamps looks like a 'Jeopardy!' game board."
From 1984 to 2020, Trebek was the host of Jeopardy.
Three months after his death, the last episode featuring Trebek as host had a record 14 million viewers.
Millions of Americans welcomed Alex Trebek into their homes every weeknight, according to Michael Elston, secretary of the USPS Board of Governors, in a press release.
"Over 37 seasons and thousands of shows, he became someone we trusted and felt familiar with. With his intelligence and wit, he made being smart seem cool."
