Mel Stern of Mel the Clothing specializes in blending sports and celebrity fashion with sparkling designs.
Mel Stern, a fashion designer from Massachusetts, has carved out a sparkling niche at the intersection of sports and pop culture.
Among the fans of her fashion line, Mel the Clothing, are Brittany Mahomes, wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, and TV personality Countess Luann from "The Real Housewives of New York."
Both Jelly Roll and David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins have been seen enjoying Stern's clothing.
On Saturday in Boston, she strutted her style on the "Runway for the Roses," which was a charity event celebrating the Kentucky Derby.
Stern stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that he was consistently the individual who arrived at parties wearing something unusual or something he made.
Her inspirations?
"I love sparkles and glitter and sports," said Stern.
At the Nantucket Wine Fest, a swanky festival on the Massachusetts resort island, she arrived as a fashion copywriter, weaving dreams in her free time.
"My friends said, ‘Come on, already. This is your passion. You have to do this!"
Stern stated, "I wore a sparkly champagne bottle design and numerous women inquired, 'Where did you purchase that?'"
"My friends urged me, 'It's time. This is your passion. You must act on it!'"
During the NFL season, Mel the Clothing (@mel_the_clothing on Instagram) experienced a significant growth in popularity.
A celebratory moment was captured on camera in the luxury boxes during a Kansas City Chiefs game.
Taylor Swift and Brittay Mahomes jumped up to cheer together.
Mel the Clothing designed a glittering little red Chiefs jersey for Mahomes' toddler.
BostonMan Magazine publisher Matt Ribaudo stated that Mel's personality is reflected in her clothing.
The Runway for the Roses is held at The Sporting Club at the Omni Boston Seaport Hotel.
The event is taking place in conjunction with the Greg Hill Foundation, a charity established by Boston radio host Greg Hill, and with Woodford Reserve Kentucky bourbon.
Over a dozen models will showcase Stern's Derby-day outfits on the Runway for the Roses, as guests prepare to cheer on the Run for the Roses.
The former fashion copywriter often incorporates pithy phrases into her designs.
The blue dress features white lettering that reads "Talk Derby To Me," while the black Darth Vader-like design declares "Maye the Horse Be With You."
May 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, coincides with the Kentucky Derby this year.
Drake Maye, the recent New England Patriots draft pick, is a promising young quarterback with great potential.
Stern said that welcoming him to Boston is his way.
