The cast of the 1996 "Twisters" movie recently discussed their thoughts on natural disasters with Planet Chronicle.
The "Twisters" film, which has been a box office success with over $220 million in earnings, follows a series of events related to tornadoes, a topic that some members of the cast have personal experience with.
Glen Powell, a native of Texas, explained to Ashley Dvorkin of Fox how tornadoes evoke both fascination and fear.
He said, "It's like this simultaneous sense of fear and reverence for the power of this thing."
"Sometimes, being near something that makes you feel alive is linked with curiosity."
In the movie, Powell portrays the role of Tyler Owens, a popular social media personality known for sharing his storm-chasing adventures.
Sasha Lane, an American actress from Houston, Texas, who stars in "Twisters," has experienced various natural occurrences in her life.
"Growing up in Texas and witnessing numerous hurricanes, thunderstorms, and hail is quite incredible," she remarked.
She'd still prefer an earthquake, she said, as she believes they "seem more relaxed."
Despite being from Chicago, Brandon Perea is not scared of residing in an area prone to earthquakes.
"Like going to the mountains, what I choose is just like other nature things I can enjoy," he said.
Although he resides in Los Angeles, he isn't overly concerned about earthquakes.
He joked, saying, "You don't confront your fears; instead, you embrace them."
The region in the United States that experiences the highest number of tornadoes annually is commonly referred to as Tornado Alley.
In the years 1989 to 2019, the state with the highest average number of tornadoes was Texas, with 151, as reported by NOAA.
The upper panhandle of Texas to South Dakota is recognized as Tornado Alley, where cold dry air and warm moist air collide.
To ensure safety during a potential deadly tornado, it is recommended to check emergency supplies at home and seek shelter in a safe space with interior walls.
