At last, the peacock that spent over six months wandering a village and jumping from house to house and fence to fence, and most recently squawking loudly in search of a mate, has been captured.

The residents of Gravesend, Kent, in the U.K. had grown attached to a bird they named Saataj. They had been providing for the bird's needs, as reported by SWNS, the British news service.

During breeding season, the peacock began making loud noises in an attempt to attract a mate. As a result, calls were made to Dartford Animal Rescue for assistance.

The bird was rescued by coaxing him off a roof with peahen noises, leading him into a parking lot and then placing him in an Ikea carrier bag.

Authorities stated that he is currently at a center with other peacocks and peahens in search of a mate he has been looking for.

The peacock, who had been roaming around the area for six months to a year, had been crossing a main road to sleep in a tree at night. He had been chilling between three gardens and the neighbors had become quite attached to him, as stated by Ciara O'Hare, who runs the rescue organization.

She stated that her neighbors "nourished him and bestowed upon him the name Saataj."

"The neighbors became quite concerned."

During breeding season, he began making a loud call in search of a mate, she added.

"So the neighbors became quite concerned."

For three years, Dartford Animal Rescue has been in operation and has never captured a peacock, but they are skilled at catching other birds such as chickens and geese, according to SWNS.

O'Hare, along with her sister and volunteer Rosie O'Hare and animal rescuer Melissa Doris, attended the rescue.

Ciara O'Hare stated that Rosie excels at bird rescues, is skilled at catching birds, and has extensive experience.

The bird followed the noises to a parking lot behind an apartment building.

Upon their arrival in Gravesend, the peacock resided on a bungalow's roof. In an attempt to entice him to descend, the three women produced peahen sounds.

The bird was captured by Rosie in a parking lot behind an apartment building.

Saataj was then placed safely inside an Ikea bag.

Ciara O'Hare stated, "He had a stress-free experience. We successfully placed him in a wrap and put him in an IKEA bag. Afterward, we transported him back to the rescue center."

Saataj was later relocated to The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary in Ashford, where he has been introduced to other peacocks and peahens.

Residents who care for the bird at the sanctuary can visit him at the café, according to SWNS.

Rosie O'Hare expressed her happiness for their little guy, stating that he would have a group of friends.

She expressed her hope that he would find the girlfriend he deeply desires.

"Peacocks are ground-feeders that eat insects, plants and small creatures."

The new treatment building at Dartford Animal Rescue is being funded through a fundraising effort.

Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to the rescue group for further comment.

Both male and female birds are commonly referred to as peacocks, according to National Geographic.

"Peacocks are males, peahens are females, and collectively, they are referred to as peafowl."

Several females may lay three to five eggs for suitable males, according to the publication.

According to Nat Geo, peacocks are "insect, plant, and small creature eaters that primarily feed on the ground."
