Ohio Bride Receives Body Shame and Cyberbullying After Pre-Wedding Pump Session Goes Viral
A TikTok video became popular after a bride released her nervousness on her wedding day by using weights.
An Ohio bride who is passionate about fitness gained notoriety on social media for her pre-wedding workout session before her wedding day.
During their honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast, the newlyweds were informed by their wedding content creator that one of their TikTok videos had already garnered over 100,000 views in just half a day of being posted.
Alexa Udelson, a salesperson from Cleveland, shared with Planet Chronicle Digital over the phone that she found it amusing and completely in line with her personality.
Udelson, who posted a video of herself lifting five-pound dumbbells in her wedding gown on her social media accounts, has gained over 5 million views. (See the video at the top of this article.)
Udelson stated that on her June 22, 2024, wedding day, the weights were so insignificant that she had almost forgotten that the content creator filmed it.
"You know that working out is crucial to me, so it felt natural."
Udelson hired the content creator as one of the last vendors for her intimate ceremony, which included immediate family members and later, close friends for a reception.
"Udelson stated that she shot everything in clips and by the end of the night, she had received 640-something clips from her."
The bride did not want to make trendy or posed videos with transitions, but she allowed the professional photographer and videographer to explore content ideas with minimal guidance or direction.
She gained internet recognition from the video, but was later subjected to body-shaming and derogatory remarks.
Udelson stated that he didn't feel particularly bothered by the comments he noticed.
"As the topics turned medical, my emotions shifted. I transitioned from indifference to anger."
Udelson was subjected to body-shaming comments and diagnoses of disorders such as body dysmorphia, bulimia, and anorexia by some social media users.
At one point, there were over 100 comments in a thread of people debating whether her dress even fit her.
Alexis Abate, a licensed professional counselor and holistic mindset coach from New Jersey, explained to Planet Chronicle Digital in a phone interview that the consequences of cyberbullying are severe because we cannot comprehend the depth of someone else's struggles. We are unaware of their experiences.
She often treats adolescents due to cyberbullying.
"Even though it may upset us, what advantage do we gain from belittling others?" she asked. "Perhaps individuals should reflect on whether social media is beneficial to them and if they need to disconnect if they are triggered by others' health and happiness."
At one point in a thread, over 100 people debated whether Udelson's dress fit her.
"Udelson stated, "I felt compelled to respond to some of the initial comments. At some point, you must detach yourself because I have a full-time job.""
She chuckled as she reveled in the delight of indulging in cake and ice cream the evening before her wedding.
She also expressed her love for the encouraging remarks from other gym-goers who offered support and praise.
"I definitely responded to the supportive ones," she said.
The new bride stated that her new husband, Connor Udelson, played a crucial role in her overcoming negativity.
She stated that he is highly confident and true to himself, and nothing anyone says about his actions or hers can affect him.
"We'll be going out to dinner, and I'll ask, "Are you sure you want to wear Crocs and socks?" and he'll respond, "I don't care. We're going to eat.""

Udelson expressed her pride in both her wedding day and her commitment to a healthy lifestyle, which involves working out at the gym with a personal trainer.
"I had the best day ever, and I felt the best ever," Udelson said. "I haven't put the weights down."
Udelson advises brides to choose the most comfortable way to walk down the aisle.
"If that requires exercising through swimming laps, running a triathlon, or any other means, go for it," she stated.
