Modesty is currently popular among TikTok users with the trend of "demure" behavior.
Social media users are intensely focused on being demure and mindful as a viral trend takes hold.
The trend of being "demure" is gaining popularity on TikTok, causing individuals to become more conscious of their self-presentation.
According to some content creators, the term "demure" refers to living a modest lifestyle, and this concept has gained popularity with over 122,000 videos on TikTok featuring the hashtag, #demure.
Jools Lebron, a TikTok creator from Chicago, Illinois, has gained over 23 million views for his explanation video on "acting demure."
Lebron stated, "I did my makeup for work with a demure and mindful approach."
While at work, Lebron is mindful and doesn't look like a clown. He doesn't do much.
According to Merriam-Webster, "demure" means both "reserved" and "modest."
Many TikTok users expressed their love for using the word in the viral personality trend.
"I can't stop saying, 'Very demure, very mindful,' and another user said, 'I love this and don't know why.'"
Another person described their approach to adopting a demure personality by saying, "I drank my beverage through a straw and mentally reminded myself to be demure."
Another user expressed confusion, stating, "I spent my whole day contemplating whether this was genuine or a jest. Not very composed or thoughtful of me."
In a TikTok video, Lebron demonstrates how to act demure while at the airport.
"I walk through the airport differently than these other girls. I arrive at my gate and board the plane. I'm quite demure and cutesy, don't you think?"
Other creators gave more examples of how someone can be demure.
In a TikTok video, Campbell Puckett, a content creator from Georgia, expressed her opinion on the current trend, which garnered over three million views.
In the video, Puckett is seen cutting an almond croissant with a fork and knife, and she describes her technique as "demure."
""I eat this with modesty, demureness, and cuteness. I'm not messy and I dislike crumbs," she stated."
Zach Jelks, a content creator with the handle @undos on TikTok, shared his understanding of demure with his six million followers. A video he posted about a demure Chipotle order garnered more than three million views.
"Can you see how my Chipotle bowl looks edible? Can you see the contents of the bowl?" he inquired.
Jelks stated that his decision to not request sour cream on top of his bowl and to purchase a small bag of chips is an illustration of being demure.
"Brat summer" was popularized by singer Charli XCX, and the social media trend soon followed.
In a TikTok video shared on her personal account, Charli XCX described "brat summer" as a "girl who is a little messy and enjoys partying."
She continued, "Perhaps you sometimes do foolish things, someone who feels confident but also... perhaps experiences a breakdown."
The person was described by the pop star as "honest, blunt, and volatile."
