Easter 2024: Impress a crowd on Sunday with a simple, delicious prime rib roast.
Make Easter dinner easy with this simple prime rib roast recipe.
There's still time to prepare a stunning dish for Easter, which falls on Sunday, March 31st.
For Easter dinner, I typically choose prime rib roast as it's always a crowd-pleaser and easier to prepare than expected, according to Lauren Allen, the Arizona-based founder of TastesBetterFromScratch.com, who shared her thoughts with Planet Chronicle Digital.
Don't worry about removing the bones from the roast before carving; they add to its presentation but can be easily removed.
"For boneless, just use a roasting rack," she said.
Not sure how much prime rib to purchase?
When purchasing prime rib, it is recommended to allocate one pound for every individual, as advised by Allen.
"Two people can be fed by a bone-in-standing rib roast," Allen stated.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 1 hour 45 minutes
Makes 10 servings
Ingredients:
- 5 pounds beef prime rib
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup olive oil
- Horseradish, for serving (optional)
Directions:
- To bake prime rib, first set the oven to 500°F and bake for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 325°F and continue baking until the desired level of doneness. Since the meat will continue to cook as it rests, remove it from the oven 5-10 degrees before it reaches your desired temperature.
- Remove the cake from the oven and cover it with foil. Let it rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Slice the prime rib roast into ½-inch thick slices by cutting against the grain. Serve with horseradish if desired.
