Detransitioners are speaking out against "gender-affirming care" in a new book, as they return to their faith, family, and foundations.
The author of 'The Detransition Diaries' presents an argument for those who have been wronged and have reverted to their faith.
The author of a new book believes that the stories of young people who have detransitioned are crucial to be shared, as the Bible's decree about gender has become controversial and antagonistic in a culture that celebrates transgenderism.
Jennifer Lahl, founder and former president of The Center for Bioethics and Culture in California, has disclosed in an interview that she is battling against what she sees as the falsehoods spread by certain sections of the medical profession and political establishment that promote puberty blockers as "gender-affirming" care.
Her struggle involves enabling the voiceless to express the authentic essence of their contentious choices regarding body-altering surgeries.
Lahl stated that these individuals have experienced trauma, including bullying, broken homes, and sexually abusive experiences.
She suggested that they may not comprehend the malevolence they encountered and are seeking solutions to overcome it.
"The Detransition Diaries," written by Lahl, recounts the stories of eight individuals who came to the realization that they had erred in believing they were born in the wrong body.
"The Detransition Diaries: Saving Our Sisters" is a documentary film based on her experiences.
On a recent episode of "Lighthouse Faith" podcast, she stated that gender dysphoria is a mental health issue, but in today's woke culture, it has become a driving force for many young individuals to undergo surgeries that they later regret.
Some detransitioners say they find little support in either the medical community or in their own social sphere.
These are permanent surgical interventions, said Lahl.
While young people are praised for embracing their true identity as transgender males or females, they often face criticism or indifference when they decide to detransition.
She stated that she found little support in both the medical community and her social circle.
Chloe, a young teenager, underwent a double mastectomy and is now suing her insurance company.
Her reconstructive breast surgery is not covered by her insurance.
"These women, even if they have reconstructive surgery, will never be able to breastfeed their children."
She said that she was not informed by medical professionals or her insurance provider that elective surgery to transition from female to male is significantly different from what happens to a woman with breast cancer.
Lahl stated that during a mastectomy for cancer, only as much breast tissue and lymphatic system tissue is removed as necessary. However, in transition medicine, the mastectomy involves shaping the bones to create a more masculine chest, and the milk glands are permanently removed. As a result, even with reconstructive surgery, these women will never be able to breastfeed their children.
Despite being from a middle-class family, Helena lost a cherished caregiver as a child. As a result, she struggled to articulate and cope with her grief, leading her to withdraw emotionally.
As she got older, the pain got worse.
Lahl claims that despite being in distress and struggling at school, no one reached out to her. However, once she came out as trans, she states that everyone wanted to assist her in transitioning.
Lahl stated that parents must act as "adults in the room" and advocate for their children.
Her advice is to shut down social media as it fosters many of these ideas.
In Lahl's opinion, there is a distinction between the reasons behind gender dysphoria in boys and girls.
A recent study found that gender dysphoria diminishes significantly between adolescence and early adulthood.
The messaging that boys receive from social media and culture is often about toxic masculinity, including "rape culture, patriarchy, and misogyny."
She stated that they are immersed in memes that assert "men are evil."
When puberty hits, they exclaim, "Oh my gosh, I don't want to become a rapist or that guy."
Girls tend to be more social and their motivation appears to be influenced by social contagion.
Lahl echoed the sentiments of many young girls, thinking, "If Susie and Debbie are dressing and grooming like this, then I must do the same. If they're changing their pronouns, then I must do the same because I want to fit in with the crowd."
Lahl stated that despite the reason, these issues are not being resolved through effective counseling and psychiatric care.
""Medicine is not immune to the influence of the world's changing ideas," said Lahl."
A recent study in the Netherlands has shown that the work of Lahl is being vindicated, as it found that gender dysphoria decreases significantly between adolescence and early adulthood.
For many families, the author said, the journey of helping their children return to their biological sex includes a return to faith and its foundations.
In England, doctors were instructed to cease prescribing puberty-suppressing hormones following the revelation that adolescents were administered the medication without any evidence of their safety.
There is a spiritual silver lining to many of the stories.
For many families, the process of supporting their children's transition back to their biological sex involves rediscovering their faith and its core principles.
Lahl stated, "I observe individuals who silently departed their faith, but now return to it because they find significance in it."
She added that the transgender debate is "chaotic" and has "no end."
The belief that God created the world with complementary male and female natures is gaining traction again.
