Customers can now purchase an insurance policy from a food truck after birds caused problems.
Hawkins BBQ is providing insurance coverage for a replacement meal in the event that a bird consumes the meal.
The food truck devised a novel approach to ensure customer satisfaction: by providing meal insurance.
Recently, Hawkins BBQ, a popular food truck known for its sandwiches, loaded fries, and ice cream, has encountered problems with local birds.
Recently, a food stop on the Isle of Man started providing seagull insurance to its customers.
Hawkins BBQ shared on Facebook the reasons for its new seagull insurance policy.
The food truck account stated that many on the island have had traumatic experiences with the enthusiastic seagulls.
Whether you're being swooped on while walking down Strand Street or attacked while eating ice cream/gelato, we have something for you.
Customers of Hawkins BBQ can purchase seagull insurance for one pound, equivalent to about $1.30, which guarantees a free replacement meal if a bird steals their meal.
The food truck spot stated that the insurance policy's proceeds will be given to the Manx Wildlife Trust, a local nature conservation charity.
Matt Hawkins, chef and co-owner, informed Planet Chronicle Digital that seagulls are legally protected in the UK, resulting in a large population and increasingly aggressive behavior.
He stated that the idea of introducing insurance to customers on the Isle of Man was a logical choice, as it had already been successful in Scotland.
"This is a cute idea and a lovely way to support the Wildlife Trust."
"Our goal was to provide customers with a sense of tranquility while they dined with us."
"Thus far, the public's reaction has been fantastic," he added.
The local food spot received positive feedback from its customers through the comments section of its Facebook post.
Supporting the Wildlife Trust through a cute idea is a lovely way to help.
Another joked by adding a play on the company's name, saying, "Is it Squawkins BBQ when they strike?"
