Bride cancels engagement and attends wedding with friends and family.
Bride discovers her fiancé's infidelity just days before the wedding.
The show must go on.
A bride recently got married without a husband after canceling the engagement just before the wedding.
For four years, Lindsay Slater, 31, had been planning her wedding, which was set for Aug. 17, 2024.
Slater discovered that her fiancé had cheated on her just days before the wedding, leading her to call it off.
Slater informed her 60 to 70 guests of the party theme change and decided to host it anyway, as she was unable to receive refunds or cancel the occasion.
At first, she was unsure how she would cope with the heartbreak, according to SWNS.
She was devastated as it was past the point of reversing the wedding plans and all the money, approximately $40,000, that had been spent on the event in Nottingham, England, had already been expended.
Slater decided to rebrand the day as a "freedom day" and spent it with close friends and family after losing money and having a party planned.
She opted to spend the day with loved ones instead of staying home and crying, as she shared with SWNS.
Slater opted to wear her $1,350 wedding dress and had a fantastic day of drinking, eating, dancing, and throwing an amazing party, she stated.
Guests relished a sit-down meal and dessert after the welcome drinks before the DJ started the music at the reception.
Gazing upon the encouraging expressions, she felt a bit improved, as she shared with SWNS.
Slater's confidence in being independent increased due to the large number of people who showed up to support her on that day.
She expressed her satisfaction, stating, "I thoroughly enjoyed the day and was enveloped in love, which served as a reminder that I didn't require him."
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to Slater for further comment.
