A 15th-century cuneiform tablet reveals a significant acquisition of furniture.
During earthquake restoration work, archaeologists discovered a 15th-century BC Akkadian cuneiform tablet.
An administrative record, or receipt, detailing a significant amount of furniture shopping is inscribed on the tablet.
In Eski Alalah, located in Turkey, the discovery was made.
The British Museum in London states that cuneiform is a unique writing method different from the alphabet.
The museum's website states that the artifact does not contain letters but uses between 600 and 1,000 characters impressed on clay to spell words by dividing them into syllables.

The relic is 1.6 centimeters thick and measures between 4.2 and 3.5 centimeters, as stated in a press release from the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.
It is claimed that the clay-inscribed tablet contains a record of the purchase of substantial quantities of wooden tables, chairs, and stools.
The minister of culture and tourism of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, shared information about the discovery on X.
The post stated that the tablet, weighing 28 grams, would provide a new perspective on the economic structure and state system of the Late Bronze Age.
Linguists will continue their work to determine the number of furniture pieces purchased, the buyers, and additional details, as stated by Ersoy.
