A mom who stays at home has a knack for decorating with natural elements during different seasons.
A woman from Texas who is passionate about design has transformed her hobby into a successful side business.
A 41-year-old stay-at-home mom from Dallas, Texas, Heather Torres, has a side hustle of decorating the front porches of homes for the fall holidays. (See the video at the top of this article.)
In 2020, Torres began decorating front porches with pumpkins and Halloween items after receiving compliments on her own home's decor and being asked to do the same for her neighbors' porches, according to SWNS.
She revealed that when they began, she was completing two to three porches per day. However, yesterday she accomplished 89 porches on her own.
In July, she begins preparing for the season and accepting orders, often drawing inspiration from her surroundings.
Years ago, Torres visited the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden and was inspired to create pumpkin displays at home.
She stated that there would be a small village made of pumpkins that one could stroll through and observe the diverse types of pumpkins.
Torres was inspired to buy 45 pumpkins of different sizes and shapes for her home's front yard.
In 2013, Torres created her first-ever porch display.
Initially, she had her displays spread out in the yard, but later she confined them to the front porch area.
She began designing with various pumpkin types, as she stated.
Clients spend anywhere from $325 to $1,350 to have their porch decorated for fall.
"My friends and neighbors asked if I could do it for them at that time."
Torres sources her pumpkins from various locations in Texas to support local farmers, as she shared with Planet Chronicle Digital today.
The cost of decorating a porch for the fall season ranges from $325 to $1,350.
She told Planet Chronicle Digital that she displays specialty pumpkins in the front, showcasing the pink porcelain doll pumpkins, gray jaradelle pumpkins, red Cinderella pumpkins, and white Cinderella pumpkins.
She stated that we also take into account the optimal placement of pumpkins for each design, whether at the entrance of the porch or on the porch.
In 2020, she earned $100,000 by decorating 250 homes in the area as a side-hustle hobby.
Over 1,000 homes have been decorated and designed by Porch Pumpkins this year, as stated by Torres to Planet Chronicle Digital.
In five to 35 minutes, Porch Pumpkins will transform the front entrance of homes with festive decorations.
In December, after the fall season ends, Torres' company removes the decorations from the homes they had previously adorned.
She stated to SWNS that she loves the holidays, with October and pumpkin season signaling the start of festivities.
Torres believes the displays make "people so happy and bring joy."
