A record-breaking 71-pound fish is caught by an angler in the notorious Texas lake.
In Austin, Texas, the fish was released after being caught.
Earlier this summer, a record-breaking 71-pound fish was caught by an angler in a notorious Texas lake.
On Friday, a 71-pound smallmouth buffalo was caught in Austin's Lady Bird Lake using a fishing rod and reel.
Over the past 18 months, Lady Bird Lake has gained infamy for being the location of multiple deceased individuals. The unearthing of a John Doe corpse during the previous summer fueled speculation that this body was one of a serial killer's victims, discarded in the lake.
A photo of Austin Anderson beaming with his catch was shared by Texas Parks & Wildlife on social media, and the fish was later released.
On 6/10/24, Austin Anderson caught a massive Smallmouth Buffalo using a rod and reel.
"Austin received several awards for his catch, including a Big Fish Award, Water Body Record, Water Body Catch-and-Release Record, and a State Catch-and-Release Record."
Social media users were impressed by the record-breaking fish.
"This is amazing!" one user exclaimed. "It's great to see the species thriving! Such a fascinating fish, so intelligent."
"Holy cow!" another wrote.
