A mom-to-be accidentally ruins her own gender reveal party after her dad's girlfriend insists on it.

A family member reportedly forced a gender reveal party on a mom-to-be, despite her initial reluctance, resulting in a dramatic and ongoing family conflict.

Over the weekend, a woman posted on social media that she is pregnant with a baby boy due in November, which has received 9,000 reactions and over 1,200 comments.

The woman shared on the AITA Reddit page that she and her fiancé didn't place much importance on the sex of their child, so they didn't make a big fuss about it after finding out.

"ThrowawayGenReveal" wrote in her post that only our parents, their partners, and our siblings were the only people we had informed.

She stated that prior to the current situation, her father's girlfriend of three years had been inquiring about her plans for a gender reveal party. However, she made it clear that she did not want one.

She expressed disappointment that I hadn't changed my mind about a party when I announced my son's gender to them.

I don't like gender reveals. I prefer baby showers, which I think feel more about the actual child. I never tried to hide that opinion, either.

The woman visited her father's girlfriend's apartment, where she was surprised by a dozen people who had been hiding. The decorations were pink and blue, indicating that a party was taking place.

The woman wrote that the dad's girlfriend had apparently "taken it upon herself to order a cake with colorful frosting, decorate the apartment and invite a bunch of people over."

The guests at the surprise gender party were her mother, some of her friends, my MIL, and four of my friends. I later learned that my MIL and friends had been informed that I had changed my mind about gender reveals.

But, the woman asserted, "I had not."

As she stood in the doorway, she said, "It's a boy. You guys can go home now."

And she left "without looking back," she wrote.

"Days after," she recounted, "my father phoned me, enraged that I'd wrecked the celebration. He stated his girlfriend had invested a considerable amount of time, funds, and affection into organizing it, and I should have displayed appreciation and consideration for her efforts. It seemed like she hadn't ceased crying since I departed."

The mom-to-be expressed her frustration in her post, stating that despite her explanation that she never wanted the party, her friends are still upset and insisting that she could have endured the party for an hour or at least cut the cake.

She queried others on the platform about whether she was wrong for her actions and the emotions she continues to experience.

"Maybe she should have gone a step further and not even invited you, since this party was all about what she wanted."

Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to a psychologist for comment.

The top "upvoted" comment on Reddit about the situation stated that the mom-to-be was not wrong for her actions and her emotions.

One person wrote: "This suggests that the dad's girlfriend is attempting to demonstrate her love for you more than your mom, despite your mom not being invited or turning down the invitation out of respect for your wishes."

The same person stated that proving care involves listening to what is wanted and not wanted.

The party she planned for herself was ruined, and she apologized. Perhaps she should have invited only those who would have made the party about her desires.

Another person, expressing the sentiments of many others, wrote, "You established a limit and withdrew immediately upon seeing it being violated."

This individual pointed out that if they had entered, it would have been used as "proof" that it wasn't that bad or as a way to dismiss their complaints about the party in the future.
