Sony has entered the electric vehicle market with its new model, the Afeela 1, which was developed in partnership with Honda. This innovative vehicle aims to redefine the driving experience by integrating advanced technology and entertainment features. The Afeela 1 is powered by a 482 hp all-wheel-drive powertrain and has a 91 kWh battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles. It supports fast charging at 150 kW and is compatible with Tesla's Supercharger network, making it convenient for long-distance travel.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
The Afeela 1 is equipped with 40 sensors and cameras, providing Level 2+ ADAS features such as lidar assistance for tasks like automated parking and real-time environmental monitoring. Its AI processing capabilities enable it to perform up to 800 trillion operations per second, preparing for future updates that may improve its autonomous driving capabilities.
In-car technology and entertainment
The Afeela 1 car is designed to provide an interactive experience, as emphasized by Sony. It features:

After an initial three-year complimentary period, certain functionalities will be available through a subscription model.

Pricing and availability
The Afeela 1 is available in two trims: the Origin, which costs $89,900, and the Signature, priced at $102,900. Preorders are currently open exclusively for California residents, with a refundable reservation fee of $200. The Signature variant is expected to ship in mid-2026, while the Origin will follow in 2027.
